With the murder investigations, blackmailing, and the professional con artists, it's surprising the teens of Élite manage to find the time to have a relationship. Yet, the 16 episodes have allowed a lot romances to blossom between the students of Las Encinas.
Although the characters are meant to be young, they certainly have a mature viewpoint on love, with several couples going above and beyond to ensure their feelings are heard. Want some examples? From Samuel and Carla's "macarrones" scene to Guzmán and Nadia's first time, here are the 10 biggest and best romantic gestures on the show.
10 Polo Gives Cayetana's Family Money
Although they are not exactly anyone's favorite characters at the moment, Polo proved that he still had a heart when he helped save Cayetana's family. In "0 hours missing," Cayetana had been expelled from Las Encinas after her latest scam was exposed to the public. Her mother also lost her job, meaning they were set to leave town.
However, as they were packing up their stuff, Polo arrived to give them some good news. He tells Cayetana's mother that his mothers have not only got her reinstated in the school but they are also giving her family some money to tide themselves over. Despite how fans feel about him, it was a kind gesture.
9 Lu Saves Guzmán
Lu and Guzmán is not exactly the ideal romance as they tend to bring the worst out in each other (especially in season 1). Yet, in "Assilah," there was one moment where fans realized that they genuinely cared for one another.
In the aftermath of Marina's death, Guzmán started to spiral and go down a dark path, excessively drinking and taking drugs. He even became suicidal at one point. However, before he could do anything, Lu managed to coax him off the ledge by telling Guzmán how important he was to everyone. Guzmán also told Lu that he needed her as well. Their relationship may not have worked out in the end but Guzmán did need her support at this time.
8 Samuel's & Marina's Reset Button
Marina and Samuel may not be one of the fans' favorite relationships but that didn't mean they didn't have their moments either. In "Love Is A Drug," Samuel comes to Marina with a "time machine" and tells her how he wants to do over certain parts of their relationship - particularly his reaction to her HIV- diagnosis.
Marina seems touched with the idea and goes along with it, even wanting to use "the machine" herself when she almost messed up their relationship at the fundraiser. In the end, both decide that focusing on the mistakes of the past meant they were missing out on the present. They both agree to start looking to the future and begin their relationship.
7 Nano's Speech To Marina's Mother
Marina and Nano's relationship may not have started under the best circumstances but it did bring out a softer side to Samuel's brother. Fans may think Nano was selfish, reckless, and not a good role model but there was no doubt that he loved Marina - as evidenced by "66 hours missing."
In this episode, Nano decides he is going to skip town. However, before he does so, he drops in on Guzmán's family and pleads his innocence. He reveals to Marina's mother that he would never have hurt her because he loved her and they were going to build a family together. Nano then pulls out a numbered ticket from the abortion clinic and says he kept it as a souvenir as it's the only thing he had left of Marina.
6 Nadia Saves Guzmán
Guzmán's downward spiral continued into the second series to the point that it began affecting his school work and he contemplated taking drugs. However, Nadia was able to come up with a creative way to prevent his behavior from spiraling further.
In "36 hours missing," Nadia, Lu, Valerio, and Guzmán go to a club to let off some steam. While Lu is off with Carla and Cayetana, Nadia decides to keep an eye on Guzmán and devises a plan to stop his excessive drinking by copying everything he does. When Guzmán asks why she's doing it, Nadia tells him it's because she's worried that he would end up dead as the booze wasn't going to fill the void Marina left - no matter how much he tried. It was touching to see how much her words affected him...
5 Carla And Samuel's Macarrones Scene
Samuel and Carla's relationship may have been a surprise but it was one the fans welcomed with open arms. When this relationship first started, it was a game. Samuel set out to seduce Carla to get the truth about Marina's murder and Carla used their relationship to try and keep him under control.
However, in "59 hours missing," it looked as if the pair were starting to have genuine feelings for one another as Samuel considered Carla's innocence and she looked discouraged to see him with Rebeca. It was further evidenced when Carla surprised him at his apartment and finally took up his offer to have dinner with him. As Carmuel fans know, this is just the beginning...
4 Omar Stands Up For Ander
With so many people against them, Omar and Ander haven't had the easiest of times. However, no matter what drama they are put through, they seem to come out of it stronger. An example of this was in "66 hours missing" when Ander's father makes a reappearance and argues with Ander over his sexuality and interests.
Omar sticks up for Ander by telling Ander's father he should start respecting his son's choices otherwise he would lose him forever. He also says Ander kept up a pretense because he didn't want to disappoint his family - just like he did. After Omar storms off, Ander then follows and comforts his boyfriend, thanking him for what he said.
3 Guzmán And Nadia's First Time
Guznadia fans rejoiced when Nadia decided to reveal her feelings for Guzmán and stops putting other people's needs ahead of her own. In "59 hours missing," Nadia decides to invite Guzmán to the club after being encouraged by Rebeca to follow her heart.
When Guzmán arrives, Nadia wastes no time in making her feelings clear and invites him back to Rebeca's place, where they spend the night. Although Nadia regrets her actions because of what she did to Lu, it was great to see Nadia follow her heart instead of her head.
2 Carla Puts It All On The Line
Although their relationship started as a game, both Samuel and Carla broke the rules when they fell in love along the way. In "84 hours missing," Carla decided to put her heart on the line when she confronts Samuel about his secret tape recording.
Carla tells Samuel she was beginning to envision a future for them, where they could go out on dates or he could make her dinner again. When Carla asks if it's a stupid idea, she looks disheartened when Samuel doesn't disagree. However, Samuel tries to make it up to her by replicating her "dream," asking her to join him at lunch and share his leftovers. It's not exactly how she pictured it but it was still just as meaningful.
1 Omar Takes A Stand
One of the biggest and most meaningful gestures in the show has to be when Omar decides he wants to be with Ander. When season 2 started, Omar and Ander were still dating in secret as the grocer wasn't ready to come out to his family. Tensions escalated between them further when Omar's felt his duty to his family was more important - especially as his father became sick.
Although he says they have no future, Omar soon changes his mind when he looks at Ander's social media profile and races off to the club ("36 hours missing"). Here, he meets up with Ander and tells him he is fed up with pretending to be someone he's not. Omar then makes his relationship with Ander official when he kisses him on the dance floor.
