With Elite season 3 now on Netflix, fans of the Spanish teen drama series are already looking ahead to what's to come in Elite season 4. Set in Madrid, the binge-worthy series follows students at a top-tier private school called Las Encinas. Elite was created by Carlos Monte and Darío Madrona.
Elite season 3, the story focuses on the fallout from the Elite season 1 death of Marina (María Pedraza) and the Elite season 2 finale's subplot that her killer, Polo (Álvaro Rico), has returned to Las Encinas. As teased in the trailer, the Elite season 3 premiere reveals that Polo was killed at a class graduation party, while the rest of the season goes back and forth in time to explore different characters' perspectives and motivations.
Elite season 3 builds to a major twist at Teatro Barceló and reveals the truth about Polo's violent death. The stakes are high for the various Las Encinas suspects, but they just may figure out a way to collectively mislead authorities in order to ensure their freedom. Here's everything we know so far about Elite season 4 on Netflix.
Netflix hasn't officially announced Elite season 4, though it's been reported that it's already in production (along with Elite season 5). Given the massive popularity of the Spanish series, don't be surprised if Netflix announces Elite season 4 by the end of May 2020, as the streaming service typically waits three to six weeks to assess viewing numbers before making a renewal decision.
Netflix seems intent on releasing new seasons of Elite rather quickly. Less than a year passed between Elite season 1 and Elite season 2, while only six months passed between the second and third installments. Fans can expect new episodes sooner than later, especially if production for Elite season 4 is already underway. Netflix will likely capitalize on the series' popularity and stray from the typical one-season-per-year model by releasing Elite season 4 in September 2020, right in time for a new school year.
Elite season 3 on Netflix ends with resolution for all of the main characters. At first, everybody is shocked when Polo falls to his death, and also by the discovery that Lu (Danna Paola) had accidentally stabbed him moments before in a bathroom. But the Las Encinas students band together to make sure that nobody's future is ruined, as they collectively leave their prints on a broken bottle neck and then frame Polo's death as a suicide. Ultimately, Nadia (Mina El Hammani) leaves for New York but promises to return to Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau), and Omar (Omar Ayuso) stays in Madrid to look after Ander (Arón Piper), whose leukemia is now in remission.
Meanwhile, Carla (Ester Expósito) preps to study somewhere "abroad" and enlists Valerio (Jorge López) to market her winery, which naturally doesn't please Carla's father, Teodoro. In the final moments of Elite season 3, the rest of the main characters begin a new year at Las Encinas, where Cayetana (Georgina Amorós) is now working as a janitor after having rejected collegiate offers from Polo's mothers.
So there's essentially a clean narrative slate for Elite season 4, and it's been reported that a new storyline with new characters will be introduced. While it's possible that original characters will make cameos in Elite season 4, it seems probable that a brand new lineup of performers will be introduced, all of whom will likely become instantly famous if they're not already. That's the power of Elite and the power of Netflix. But where will Elite season 4 take place? Maybe Barcelona, or perhaps at another Madrid school?
