Scrubs: 5 Reasons JD Was Perfect For Elliot (5 Reasons She Should Have Been With Someone Else)

JD and Elliot were the central couple of Scrubs - on again, off again, will they, won't they. They went back and forth for almost the entire show, making fans wonder if these two crazy kids could ever truly work it out... before eventually managing to settle down together in the end.

For many, this was truly the perfect ending, and the number of times that they broke up and made up just proved how perfect they were for each other. However, others would argue that Elliot should definitely have ended up with someone else - maybe Keith, of course, but maybe just someone who was a little better suited to her than the man-child she got...

10 Not Perfect: JD Can't Commit

Pretty much from the start, Elliot has wanted to be in a committed relationship, and JD just... hasn't. Over and over again, fans have seen him mess her around and refuse to commit, and Elliot should really be with someone who actually wants what she wants. JD even admits, later in the show, that he wants her when he can't have her, and then when they are together, he doesn't want her anymore. Elliot deserves better than that kind of ridiculous mind game. At least he committed in the end.

9 Perfect: He Understands The Demands Of Work

Whoever Elliot ended up with, it should have been a doctor - because that means that they would truly understand the completely crazy demands of her job. JD was perfect for her because not only did he understand her job because he is a doctor too, but having seen her grow from her early years into an expert in her field, he understands every part of it. He sees her insecurities and her proudest moments, and he knows everything that goes into her work, not just the long hours.

8 Not Perfect: Too Much History

Elliot is definitely not the most secure woman on the show, and JD has hurt her time and time again. Being able to get past all their history and actually make things work may well be impossible for Elliot, and she even talks to JD about this when they are getting back together.

Rather than being in a relationship where she has to deal with all this baggage, Elliot would have been better off ending up with someone where she could build a healthy relationship on a blank slate.

7 Perfect: He Has Proven He's Willing To Make It Work

This is the flip side of their history together, and their constant breakups - by the end of the series, Elliot has to know that JD is 100% committed to making things work. For someone so insecure about her 'real self' being too 'crazy' and driving men away, this makes JD truly perfect. He's someone that she can relax with, knowing that even though he's hurt her before, he wouldn't be coming back to her now unless he was absolutely, totally, determined to work things out. And that kind of commitment matters.

6 Not Perfect: She Hates His Humor

Over and over again, JD and Elliot's break ups are fuelled by fights over JD's sense of humor. Whether it's jokes about their sex life or jokes at her expense, Elliot just doesn't find him funny. At all. She's also not a big fan of the way that he's constantly playing pranks, as she's far more serious, and this means that they are constantly running into issues. In many ways, it would be better for Elliot to be with someone whose sense of humor more closely matches her own - if for no other reason than it would just mean fewer fights!

5 Perfect: Friends With Friends

While friends and social circles shouldn't determine relationships, there's no denying that it's important - and if it weren't for her relationship with JD, Elliot would never have the close friendships that she does with Carla and Turk.

Elliot is so high strung that she finds it hard to make friends, but being with JD opens new doors for her and helps widen her social circle, which is exactly what she needs - not to mention the convenience of her best friend being married to his best friend!

4 Not Perfect: He's Too Childish

This is similar to the issues with JD's sense of humor, but it's not just that Elliot doesn't find the same things funny. In addition, JD often needs Elliot to be the one in charge, rather than being a partner - and while she may think that she wants this (how many women plan their own engagements?), she actually does better when she is with people who help her out and take some of the pressure off her. JD, sweet as he is, is definitely not the kind of person who would do that.

3 Perfect: They Balance Each Other Out

While JD's childish side can often be frustrating for Elliot, there are also times that it makes him the perfect partner for her - because he helps her to relax. Elliot is a very anxious person, and one who likes to be in control, but her relationship with JD can help her go with the flow and have a little more fun. He balances her out sometimes, and that actually makes him perfect for her.

2 Not Perfect: They Have Different Expectations

From jokes about sex lives to whether or not a partner should 'take her side', Elliot seems to have very different expectations from a relationship than JD. This doesn't have to be a huge hurdle, of course, because it just takes some talking about what the relationship should be and what they both want, but it's definitely not ideal. If Elliot could find someone who had similar expectations of how to behave, they would be far more 'perfect' for her than JD was.

1 Perfect: Love Is Love

At the end of the day, Elliot has shown time and time again that she loves JD, and he has done the same. No relationship is perfect, and no person is truly 'perfect' for another in every single way, shape, and form. However, these two come pretty close, given that they are both devoted to each other. What really matters isn't having the same expectation or sense of humor, but really wanting to be together, no matter what.
