The Mindy Project: 10 Things That Happened From Season 1 That We Completely Forgot About

It's been eight years since the first season of The Mindy Project, and fans of the show are still talking about its sad cancellation today. It was in the first season that we got to know Dr. Mindy Lahiri's quirks, love of pop culture, and eagerness to fall in love at the Empire State Building.

We also met beloved characters who would stay with the series through its entirety, and said goodbye to characters who didn't have a proper ending. Through it all, season 1 of The Mindy Project was one of the best. Keep reading to be reminded of these 10 things we forgot happened.

10 Shauna Had A Crush On Danny

In the episode "In The Club," Shauna gets the whole gang invited to a top-notch club. Mindy was dying for a night out on the town and was on the hunt for a new man in her life. After a couple of drinks, Danny let loose and hit the dance floor, which is when everyone realized Shauna was crushing on him. The two showed no signs of chemistry at work and yet at the club, Shauna couldn't help herself. Danny ended up rejecting her on the dance floor, which didn't sit well with Shauna, and she was a downer for the rest of the night. Sadly, she disappeared without a trace after 12 episodes.

9 Danny Finally Got His Driver's License

In "Halloween," Danny decides it's finally time to get his driver's license. Most New Yorkers don't own a car because public transportation is so much easier than driving and finding a parking spot, so it wasn't weird that Danny didn't have his license as an adult.

The reason Danny getting his driver's license was so important is because he later goes on a cross-country drive to see his dad later in the series. It was because of this trip that Danny and Mindy began to drift apart; it was the beginning of the end.

8 No One Wanted To Hire Morgan

Morgan is by far the one constant shining light throughout The Mindy Project. He's hilariously honest and is obsessed with Dr. L (as he calls her). He wants to be everyone's protector and everyone's best friend. And while people warmed up to his zany personality, there was a time when no one wanted Morgan around. In "Hiring and Firing," Mindy and Danny are in charge of hiring a new nurse. They both agreed that he would not be a good fit, but after he stepped up in a surprise situation, they all saw how good at his job he was. Hiring Morgan was the best thing Shulman and Associates ever did.

7 Danny Was Mindy's Gyno

When Mindy's gynecologist retires, she's scrambling for a new doctor she trusts. She and Danny then enter a friendly wager to see who would back out first if he became her new gynecologist. The friendly banter between the two starts out harmless enough but the entire situation takes a turn for the worst.

Mindy becomes upset at Danny's intimate questions and Danny couldn't handle the pressure after seeing Mindy's breasts during the exam. He ended up walking out in the middle of the exam, making Mindy the victor.

6 Mindy Actually Had Outside Friends

Part of what made Mindy a well-rounded character in the first season is that she had friends outside of work. We met her best friend Gwen, her friend Alex, and other friends from college popped up along the way. They became Mindy's soundboard and a fun addition to the show outside of Shulman and Associates. But after season 1, Mindy's friends start fading away. We no longer see or hear about Gwen, and Mindy stops bringing friends to different mixers and parties. Meeting her friends was a fun aspect of the show that we miss from season 1.

5 Mindy Dated A Prostitute

Before Mindy settled into a serious relationship with Danny, we saw her date around and have fun in the first season. We saw her relationship bloom (and wither) with Josh, she had a one-night stand with Brendan, and she also had a brief moment with a prostitute! She meets a guy named Adam at the bar and the two hit it off immediately. She brings him back to her place and while they're in bed, he brings up the amount it would take for him to spend the night. The problem is Mindy had no idea she was paying for his services to begin with. She ended up kicking him out, but he showed up at her office the next day looking for payment.

4 Morgan Sends Danny's Letter To Christina

Upon meeting Danny, it was obvious he had a troubled relationship because of his cynical views on marriage and serious relationships. He's cold and judgmental and isn't open enough to tell his colleagues and friends what happened in his past. But after the nurses start snooping in his office, they find a letter Danny wrote for his ex-wife, Christina. It explained the demise of their relationship and was incredibly honest and raw. It was so beautifully written that Morgan ended up mailing the letter on Danny's behalf, even though he wrote it years prior. Christina ended up getting the letter and showing up at the office, which opened up a whole can of worms.

3 Morgan Left Shulman And Associates To Work With Brendan

After Danny fires Morgan for mailing his letter to Christina without his knowledge, Morgan has nowhere to go until Brendan and Duncan hire him. The entire office at Shulman and Associates felt betrayed by Morgan, but he had no other choice other than to work for the "bad guys" after being fired. He had a house full of dogs to feed!

2 Danny Rekindles His Relationship With His Dad

Before Danny became close with his dad and half-sister, he and his father hadn't had a relationship for a long time. He walked out on Danny's mom years ago, forcing Danny to be the man of the house and raise his little brother.

In the first season, Danny's brother urged him to meet his dad when the crew was in California for a conference. Danny ended up bringing Mindy with him (without her knowledge) as a source of comfort, but all the trip did was make Danny drunk and angry. But though it didn't end too well, it was a big moment in Danny and his dad's relationship.

1 Seth Rogen Made An Appearance

In "The One That Got Away," Mindy rekindles with an old flame (Sam) from high school. The two were really hitting it off until Sam mentioned he was in the Army and being deployed soon. Funny enough, Sam was played by comedic actor Seth Rogen, The Mindy Project was filled with famous cameos like Rogen, B.J. Novak from The Office, and Anna Camp from Pitch Perfect. It was a special part of the show that is missed by fans as the serie went on.
