BBC & Netflix's Nadiya's Time To Eat Season 2: Hit Show Being Renewed?

The BBC and Netflix have not yet confirmed or denied if the Netflix show Nadiya's Time to Eat will receive a second season, despite a positive reception. The show currently has one season with seven episodes, filled with "time-saving recipes for when you're in a rush" in the host's words. Audiences have to wait to find out if they'll get more of those good foods since the show's status is currently pending.

Nadiya's Time to Eat was produced in 2019 by BBC Two, with Nadiya Hussain serving as the host. It was released on Netflix on April 27. Nadiya Hussain was previously known for winning The Great British Bake Off - also known as the Great British Baking Show - in 2015, during its sixth season. She is Bangladeshi and Muslim, currently serving as an ambassador for Water Aid and the Children's Starlight Foundation. This win cemented her career as a chef, author, and underdog celebrity. She later published Time to Eat as a cookbook, which the BBC later adapted into a show. As the host, she uses smart hacks to reduce the time needed for good food, describing it as "cheating in heaven" while helping stressed parents. The recipes run the gamut between simple and replicable, to ensure that families can reduce stress while cooking on a regular basis.

The Cinemaholic believes that if the show were renewed, then it has good odds even when factoring in pandemic delays. For one, it has received international acclaim after its April Netflix premiere. Nadiya would most continue hosting and resume her goal to ensure that families with little time can cook with ease. These strategies, which include using your tray and planning ahead when kids demand pancakes on a day where parents would prefer to feed them cereal, would remain relevant. One drawback, however, would potentially be that the filming would risk the crew and members' exposure during the pandemic. Precautions would have to ensure that no one's health faces jeopardy with social distancing and masks. The short seasons, in the meantime, can leave viewers craving more recipes and delicious food on the camera. People will most likely get a second season in 2021, to consider filming time and editing.

One factor in Nadiya's favor is that she has three other shows under her belt: The Chronicles of Nadiya, Nadiya's British Food, and Nadiya's Family Favorites. These were BBC miniseries, with The Chronicles consisting of two episodes as she traveled to Bangladesh to explore her roots and cook with her extended family. Viewers want more of Nadiya's bright personality and mouthwatering treats. The experience has given her extended screen presence and exposure to her delightful charisma.

Nadiya also has other books that could inspire shows with different themes. They include her memoir Finding My Voice,  the children's book Bake Me A Story, and Nadiya's Kitchen. Each of these books has similar themes but different angles. The BBC produced Nadiya's Family Favorites in 2018, which has a companion cookbook. Nadiya is also fairly prolific, meaning future cookbooks could inspire new BBC productions.

Netflix could potentially change the reality TV field, including cooking and competition shows; Nadiya's Time to Eat mainly needs to thrive on the website algorithm, views and the reception. After all, there are no advertising thanks to the subscription model and people watching receive several episodes at once. Meanwhile, the writers and editors can decide where to insert cliffhangers and how much content to provide to the viewer. It helps that with the lockdown, more and more people are watching Netflix for entertainment. Thanks to The Great British Baking Show, producers know that there is an audience for feel-good cooking. People want to see bakers and cooks turning a pile of raw ingredients into something special. Viewers can also witness magnificent dishes made with a handful of hours to spare.

We'll wait to see if Time To Eat gets that desired confirmation. Nadiya will most likely appear on the screen, in either this show or a new one; we just don't know the dishes that will be prepared in question or a title. Regardless, she'll charm us with her positive attitude and great taste.
