Love is Blind Head of Casting Explains Casting Process Changes For Season 2

Netflix had no clue that they had such a huge hit on their hands with Love is Blind. The series topped Netflix’s top 10 list quite a few times when it originally aired back in February. Then it received a new surge of viewers when quarantine happened. It’s been months since the Love is Blind reunion, but the series is still popular and a hot topic among fans.

Love is Blind is definitely one of Netflix’s biggest series of 2020. Now with the season over, fans can’t wait for the highly anticipated second and third seasons. The second season of Love is Blind is set to take place in Chicago, and focus on singles in that city. The second season of Love is Blind should air sometime in 2021.

Due to the coronavirus and quarantine, production on Love is Blind season 2 has been halted. This means that casting of the new season cannot resume until the stay at home order gets lifted. However, once Love is Blind begins production again, we’re sure many people will want to know as much as possible about the application process. Therefore, Screen Rant spoke to Love is Blind’s Head of Casting Donna Driscoll.

We asked Donna how the recruiting process will change from season 1 to season 2 and 3. She offered this insight:

The only thing that’s different really is the city. Honestly, we’re going to be doing everything the same way as we did before anyone knew what Love is Blind was, but a little bit more diligent in finding people who are in it for the right reasons.

Love is Blind has become such a huge hit that there are likely to be people auditioning just to gain some reality TV exposure and fame. Screen Rant pondered and asked how Donna plans to keep those in it more for fame than love out of the pods.

Well see this has been one of my biggest challenges before we even got picked up. When I saw the success of the show, I was like ‘Wow, we’re going to have to be really diligent about casting next season.’ And I feel like we’re still having a lot of conversations about that, but I feel like at that point, we’re going to have to incorporate people who are close to the candidates in their everyday life into the conversation at a certain point.

If you’re planning to audition for Love is Blind season 2 or 3, make sure you have a good wing woman or man on call, because they might help or hurt your chances of being on the series.
