MBTI®: 5 Action Movies That ENTJs Will Love (5 They Will Hate)

In the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, the ENTJ personality is one of the sixteen established personality types. ENTJ personality is often known as "The Commander." These types of people are usually energetic, decisive, and goal-oriented. Given these characteristics, it seems as though ENTJs would love action movies.

With so many action movies, from the modern hits to the classics, there are some that will fit the ENTJ personalities well, but some that wouldn't be the right fit. Their interests and traits help determine their particular tastes. Here are some action movies ENTJs will love, and some they will hate.

10 Love: The Grey

The Grey is one of the better films to come out of Liam Neeson's rebirth as an action star. Neeson plays a hunter who steps up to protect a group of plane crash survivors who are stranded in the arctic tundra and being chased by wolves.

Neeson's stern survivalist character fits the ENTJ type perfectly. They love to throw themselves into the leader role of any situation and help guide others towards their collective goals. Without him as their leader, this group would be wolf food and that's how ENTJs like to look at their leadership.

9 Hate: Stuber

Stuber is a buddy action movie starring the inspired pairing of Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani. Bautista plays a determined and violent cop on the trail of a killer who is forced to pull a timid Uber driver (Nanjiani) into his dangerous mission.

Despite the humor that comes from Bautista's super cop trying to pull this meek man along with him, ENTJs would likely be frustrated with the situation. Seeing someone who is working towards a goal having to deal with a totally reluctant partner would be a nightmare for them.

8 Love: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is the fifth installment in the massively successful action series. Tom Cruise once again returns as super spy Ethan Hunt, who finds himself on the run from the intelligence community as he hunts down a covert group of terrorists.

Each Mission: Impossible movie features at least one moment in which the impossibility of the mission is laid out, and Hunt as his team have to put a plan in place to achieve their goal. This is the kind of thing ENTJs love – strategizing and putting a perfect plan into action.

7 Hate: Guardians Of The Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy is the hilarious sci-fi action-adventure that introduced the cosmic side of the MCU. The film introduces a group of intergalactic outlaws and criminals who band together to create a dysfunctional team that must save the galaxy.

ENTJs would hate to be part of such a group. They like organization and strategic thinking, which is certainly not a strong aspect of the Guardians. Their constant bickering and improvised approach to their problems would drive an ENTJ crazy.

6 Love: Dirty Harry

Dirty Harry is the classic cop film starring Clint Eastwood as Harry Callahan, San Francisco's toughest cop. When a madman begins killing people at random, Harry will stop at nothing to end his reign of terror, even if it means breaking every rule in the book.

In the minds of most ENTJs, rules were meant to be broken. They look at their problems in much the same way Dirty Harry does. If they decide there is a right way to handle things, they are confident in their choice and won't be dissuaded.

5 Hate: King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword

Guy Ritchie took another shot at bringing the legend of King Arthur to the big screen with his own style thrown in. Charlie Hunnam plays Arthur, the young street thug who learns of his lineage and his destiny to sit on the thrown.

Unlike most King Arthur legends, this version depicts Arthur as someone who has no desire to take on the role of king and would rather go back to his simpler life. ENTJs would lose interest with someone who denies their responsibility and the opportunity to lead others pretty quickly.

4 Love: Hot Fuzz

Hot Fuzz is the second installment in Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy. This time, Wright takes on the action-packed cop genre with this story of a dedicated and serious big-city cop who is sent to a small and seemingly quiet rural town where he finds there is more danger than meets the eye.

ENTJs would likely relate to the super cop character played by Simon Pegg. They too are often career-oriented people who sometimes choose career over socializing. They take their roles seriously and always look to move forward.

3 Hate: Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 continued the adventures of Tony Stark as the world's latest superhero who helped kick off the MCU. This follow-up finds Stark dealing with the new notoriety of being a superhero and how he is slowly losing control.

While the first Iron Man saw Stark realize he had a responsibility to do good with his genius and skills, the sequel finds him becoming more reckless. ENTJs take the responsibility very seriously and would not like a hero who doesn't do the same.

2 Love: True Grit

True Grit is the Coen Brothers' take on the Western novel by Charles Portis. In this version, Jeff Bridges plays Rooster Cogburn, a ruthless U.S. Marshal who is hired by a determined young girl to track down the man who killed her father.

The relationship between the two main characters is entertaining and should appeal to ENTJs. Neither character is one to mince their words and are often blunt with their criticism. Rooster is especially not one to coddle his young companion even though they find themselves in dangerous territory.

1 Hate: The Guard

The Guard is an underrated dark comedy starring Brendan Gleeson. He plays an Irish cop who is reluctantly brought into a drug-smuggling operation when an ambitious FBI agent (Don Cheadle) comes to his small community.

While Gleeson's character certainly has the bluntness some ENTJs would appreciate, he is also a cop who doesn't hold his career very highly. He more looks forward to his days off than to catching the bad guys. ENTJs just wouldn't relate to his behavior.

  1. I think, specifically in the case of Iron Man 2, it's something an unhealthy ENTJ could relate to - Tony's behavior in the movie is a perfect example of an ENTJ being in Fi grip. He doesn't tell Pepper about his dying condition, refuses to accept any help, rejects any authority other than his own and uses Se activities like racing and getting drunk to ward of his Fi fear of death. His Ni is focussed on being Iron Man so much so that he handed over his company to Pepper.
