MBTI: 5 Netflix Original Series That ESTJs Will Love (5 They Will Hate)

The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator uses a self-questionnaire to sort individuals into 16 main personality types. These personality types are some combination of 4 different defining attributes. ESTJs stands for extroverted, sensing, thinking, and judging.

This personality type is named "The Executive" because ESTJs are strong leaders. They make decisions based on fact and are highly logical. ESTJs enjoy order and directness. They are strong-willed and loyal, making them fiercely committed individuals. ESTJs aren't without their weaknesses. Executives can be inflexible and stubborn. They may have difficulty expressing their emotions and have difficulty relaxing. For this reason, if a show is going to be worth the time of an ESTJ, it needs to be highly logical and engaging. It needs to feature ambitious and compelling characters. As ESTJs care more about logic than emotions, they are more likely to enjoy shows that allow them to think analytical than shows that tug on their heartstrings. With all of these factors in mind, take a look at 5 Netflix Original Series that ESTJs will love and 5 they will hate.

10 Hate: Stranger Things

Stranger Things is considered one of Netflix's most successful series, but that doesn't mean it will impress Executives. Many grew attached to the children in this show, but ESTJs are not likely to become emotionally attached. The show draws heavily on nostalgia, which will not resonate well with this personality type.

ESTJs enjoy stories that are well organized and logical, which is where Stranger Things falls short. The rules to the universe aren't clearly defined and the show provides few solid clues for fans to track. A story involving supernatural elements is a hard sell for an ESTJ, so this show didn't have much hope in the first place.

9 Love: Dead To Me

Dead to Me is a clever show with dark humor. The show follows two unlikely friends who bond at a support group, but Judy is hiding a secret that could massively impact Jen's life. ESTJs will heavily identify with the character Jen, as she is strong-willed, direct, and an excellent organizer.

The show is fast paced and provides an engaging central mystery. As the show progresses, small pieces of the mystery begin to fall into place, allowing ESTJs to guess along, racing to solve the mystery before the main characters figure out the whole truth.

8 Hate: The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is another popular show that isn't going to satisfy ESTJs. While this show does contain clues to the mystery, the reveals will seem fairly obvious to ESTJs.

This show relies too heavily on popular tropes, which cause Executives to quickly become disinterested. With few strong-willed characters and an overwhelming amount of "heroes" who play the victim and are disinterested in the power so easily accessible to them, ESTJs will find this show boring and predictable.

7 Love: The Circle

ESTJs aren't overly fond of reality television shows, but this show may change their mind. In this game, players compete to win money by creating online profiles and competing to be the most popular. The winner receives a cash prize.

The Circle has seen some incredible strategists and master manipulators. ESTJs are known for being extremely focused on social status. This focus on public opinion is often seen as a weakness, but would be a strong advantage in this game. Executives will find themselves loving this show as they play along with the game at home and organize their own ideas about the best strategy required to win.

6 Hate: Love Is Blind

ESTJs have a hard time relaxing. If they choose to spend their downtime watching a show, it likely won't be this one. ESTJs are highly logical but can also be extremely judgmental. They have difficulty expressing emotion and are often uncomfortable with unconventional situations.

Love Is Blind is a reality dating show in which contestants find love by talking to each other through a wall and agreeing to marry each other sight unseen. To ESTJs, this will sound ludicrous. Executives will not understand why anyone would want to participate in this outrageous experiment or why so many enjoy watching these people make foolish decisions.

5 Love: Grace and Frankie

If ESTJs are looking for a show that contains characters with which they can identify, Grace and Frankie is the show for them. The show is about two rivals who become unlikely friends after their husbands reveal they have been secretly having an affair.

ESTJs will appreciate the characters of Grace and Brianna. Both of these women are strong-willed, direct, dedicated, organized, and powerful. They can also be inflexible, stubborn, judgmental, and focused on other people's perception of them. These women do not enjoy expressing their emotions, choosing to focus on logic and fact instead of their feelings. With these dominant and influential women at the center of the show, Executives are sure to become invested.

4 Hate: Santa Clarita Diet

Santa Clarita Diet is a comedy show about a family forced to adjust when the mother transforms into a flesh-eating zombie.

Ultimately, the show relies on placing the characters into absurd situations in order to elicit laughs from the audience. The problem is, ESTJs don't find random nonsense to be funny.

3 Love: I Am Not Okay With This

While this show doesn't have a lot of relatable characters for ESTJs, it does have an incredible plot. I Am Not Okay With This follows high school student Sydney as she learns to control her new superpowers. Impending doom is obvious based on the cryptic flashes of the future that are shown leading up to the climax.

ESTJs will appreciate the thoughtful construction of the show as small details are planted throughout the series to clue viewers into the upcoming events. They will also enjoy imagining the scope of what Sydney can accomplish if she learns to harness her powers.

2 Hate: Russian Doll

The premise of Russian Doll will sound interesting to ESTJs. Unfortunately, the main character will be so unlikable that Executives will turn off the show before even finishing the first episode.

Nadia is a woman who is stuck in a time loop, relieving the last day of her life over and over again. Executives will find themselves wishing this character stayed dead, as she is extremely crude, lacks control, and participates in some unconventional choices. ESTJs can be rather judgmental, and Nadia is a character with which they simply will not sympathize.

1 Love: Elite

Elite has everything for which ESTJs could ever hope. The show is fast-paced with an interesting narration style. It focuses on the dynamics of students at an elite high school where a murder is committed.

The show jumps back and forth between the present and the future, providing key details and insights into the crime. There are a host of dynamic characters driven by their motivation to succeed and their desire to maintain their reputation and power. The insane plot twists and tumultuous relationships with have Executives at the end of their seats.
