Miles Morales meets Venom in a fan poster for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. Miles (voiced by Shameik Moore) made his big screen debut in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a film that was extremely well-received by fans and critics alike. Much of the film focused on Miles as he received and gradually discovered his powers, but it also featured a whole host of other Spider-People, like Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) and Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld). It seemed inevitable that a sequel would arrive, and Sony finally made the official announcement last November that Into the Spider-Verse 2 would arrive in 2022.
Into the Spider-Verse proved that Sony could make a truly great Spider-Man movie, but it wasn't the only Marvel film the studio released in 2018. Months earlier, Venom made its way out into the world with less-than-stellar reviews, but great financial success. It starred Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the journalist who becomes the host of the symbiote Venom. Like Into the Spider-Verse, it has a sequel on the way, which recently received a full title: Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Initially slated for release this year, the second Venom later ended up being pushed to June 2021.
Artist Camille Vialet, along with Mohammed Hibban, decided to combine Sony's two latest Marvel movies in a fun poster for Into the Spider-Verse 2. It imagines what the film would look like if Venom was included and gave Miles a symbiotic suit. Gwen and Peter make cameos in the background. You can see it for yourself in the space below:
Sony aims to create its own Marvel universe with the characters they own the rights to, officially titled the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. In addition to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the studio will release Morbius next year and will also partner with Marvel Studios for the MCU's Spider-Man 3. As of right now, the Into the Spider-Verse films stand apart (largely because they're animated instead of live-action), but even that film is creating its own universe, as a female-led spin-off is currently in the works.
Despite the fact that they remain separate right now, it wouldn't be all that surprising to have some kind of Venom/Into the Spider-Verse crossover. After all, Into the Spider-Verse featured plenty of references to past Spider-Man films that seemed to indicate they all take place in the same universe, just via different realities. If Sony truly wanted to, they could find a way to work Hardy's Venom into Spider-Verse 2. On the other hand, Sony could just put a completely different symbiote into a Spider-Verse film. It could make for an interesting story for Miles and his friends, if it were to ever happen.
