The Dark Knight: Henry Cavill Is Batman In Crossover Fan Art

Henry Cavill becomes The Dark Knight's Batman in some nifty crossover fan art. Cavill, of course, is best known for playing another DC superhero: Superman. He first stepped into the role in 2013's Man of Steel and subsequently went on to star in two other DCEU films. There were more plans for Cavill's Superman beyond Justice League in 2017, but when that disappointed critically and financially, those plans fell apart. Until recently, it seemed like the DCEU was moving away from Cavill, especially when he took the role of Geralt in Netflix's The Witcher.

However, new reports have suggested Cavill's time in the DCEU isn't quite over. While he won't star in another solo Superman film, like Man of Steel 2the current plans are for Cavill to cameo in additional DCEU films. Superman isn't expected to appear in films like The Flash or Black Adam, despite fans' hopes of seeing him go head to head with Dwayne Johnson in the latter, but he could cameo in Shazam 2. Cavill's next DCEU film hasn't been named just yet, though fans will see his Superman back in action in Zack Snyder's Justice League, which is headed to HBO Max next year.

DC fans are rather fond of Cavill, which is why they're often quick to design some incredible art for him. This latest piece from houseofmat imagines what Cavill would look like as Batman. However, he isn't just any Batman; he's the hero from Chrstopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. You can see it for yourself in the space below.

As some have likely already noted, Cavill would make a pretty good Batman. However, the closest Cavill has ever gotten to Batman is fighting him in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. At the time, the Caped Crusader was played by Ben Affleck, but he has since stepped away from the role. Next year, Robert Pattinson will play the character in Matt Reeves' The BatmanCavill isn't expected to have a cameo in that film either.

DC fans were disappointed when they thought Cavill would no longer be a part of the DCEU, so the news of his return was a welcome surprise. There are still some who are championing for a Man of Steel 2, but at this time, Warner Bros. isn't interested in it. That's not to say it won't ever happen, because the Snyder Cut's release is proof enough that things can change. However, fans probably shouldn't expect it any time soon. They also probably shouldn't expect to see Cavill as The Dark Knight, no matter how awesome he looks.
