A new piece of DC fan art for The Flash shows Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Flashpoint Batman. Ever since playing Thomas Wayne in the opening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has not been shy about expressing his interest in playing the Flashpoint Batman. The version of the Dark Knight that appears in the 2011 Flashpoint comic sees Thomas Wayne become a much more ruthless incarnation of Batman after Bruce is killed. The popular storyline will now serve as an inspiration for the upcoming 2022 The Flash film as well.
After many director changes and delays, The Flash film starring Ezra Miller looks to be moving ahead with IT director Andy Muschietti now on board to helm the DC movie. Muschietti even provided a storyline update earlier this year explaining that the film will be a "different version of Flashpoint." In June, news broke that Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his role of Batman and star in The Flash, with the story reportedly explaining what Batman has been doing since Batman Returns. Following this news, word also broke that The Flash will not include a Thomas Wayne Flashpoint Batman. However, that’s not deterred fans from picturing Morgan in this role.
Artist George Evangelista recently tweeted a new piece of art that has Morgan as the Flashpoint Batman. The incredible piece of art shows the trademark grey and red Flashpoint Batman suit, along with the character's trademark red eyes. Evangelista's original tweet can be seen below:
Although it does not look like fans will get Morgan as Flashpoint Batman anytime soon, having Keaton reprise his role as Batman is certainly not a bad idea. Keaton’s return could lead to him starring in more films like Batgirl, taking on a Nick Fury-like mentor role for DC’s universe. But with The Flash opening the door to the multiverse, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that somehow, someway, Morgan could eventually become the Flashpoint Batman.
The above fan art is perhaps the best example of how great Morgan could look as Flashpoint Batman. Of course, Morgan has also shown his ruthless side in The Walking Dead, so fans are aware he can tap into the aggression to play the more violent version of Batman. At this point, it’s seemingly confirmed that the Flashpoint Batman will not appear in the upcoming Flash film. However, while Warner Bros. is hoping the return of Keaton will get fans excited for their film, more and more fans seem to be expressing their support for Morgan to play Flashpoint Batman in The Flash.
