Anyone who’s a fan of mom, model, and social media star Chrissy Teigen has seen and loved the house she shares with her husband, The Voice coach John Legend. But the celebrity couple, who’s expecting their third child, will soon be moving out of their 1960s Hollywood Hills mansion. Apparently, they need more space for the new baby!
Power couple Chrissy (34) and John (41) bought their house in 2016 for a whopping $14.1 million. The roughly 8500 sq ft Beverly Hills house first belonged to pop star Rihanna, who moved out in 2011. Back then, Chrissy and John were again looking for a bigger space as they welcomed their first child, Luna. Chrissy joked about never in her life imagining that she would be cool enough to move into Rihanna’s pad on The Ellen Show. The supermodel and her GRAMMY-winning husband assigned Don Stewart of the L.A. firm Desiderata Design, whom they met through musician Kanye West, with the task of re-designing the mansion. Perfect for indoor-outdoor living, the house was a first for the celebrity couple in Los Angeles, having been based out of New York before. “It’s subtle and beautiful, but it packs a modern punch,” John said about the space that Stewart compared to a Thai temple.
According to WSJ, Chrissy and John are looking to move out, as they simply need more space considering they will now become a family of six. The tenants of their home include their two children, four-year-old Luna and two-year-old son Miles, as well as Chrissy's mother. The A-list couple has been spending time quarantined in the contemporary space, as John works on numerous projects and appears on shows like The Voice during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Variety, the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom property has an intricately patterned ceiling from Thailand, oak floors, and steel-rolled walls that “exude sensuality.” The kitchen is equipped with a massive island and world-class custom appliances fit for "a culinary influencer and cookbook author." A large home gym, “sumptuous” movie theatre, and a warehouse-sized master bedroom are other notable features of Chrissy and John’s sophisticated abode. With soaring floor-to-ceiling windows, a dark-bottomed plunge pool, and a scenic view of the Coldwater Canyon, the actress’ house features a parlor with a sculptural staircase and 33-foot ceilings.
Chrissy took to her Twitter account today to share pictures of a cozy new reading area and home classroom she set up at the house. “I’ve always wanted to be a teacher,” the supermodel shared. When praised for her home décor skills, she thanked the fan and added, “bit of a bummer as our house is for sale and I don’t think anyone else is looking for a room like this lol.” Chrissy’s fans think, state-of-the-art features aside, the $24 million house might sell just based on the fact that it has an in-house classroom, especially with the trend of online learning picking up.
