Dumbledore's Army, Ranked By Likability | ScreenRant

Dumbledore's Army is one of the most memorable facets of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A secret organization is almost always a recipe for excitement. A secret organization created in order to learn cool new spells? That's even better. The fact that it also represents a quiet rebellion against ill-intentioned authority figures just adds to the intrigue.

The members of the DA are all pretty cool: they're all brave, smart students who take their education, and preparedness against dark magic, into their own hands. They're even portrayed as a parallel to the actual Order of the Phoenix, a group also formed by young people to rebel against evil. But even in the Order of the Phoenix, some members are just easier to like. In such a large group like Dumbledore's Army, there are bound to be people who are less likable than others.

10 Cho Chang

In the movie The Order of the Phoenix, Cho Chang is the one who betrays Dumbledore's Army to Professor Umbridge, resulting in the group's disbandment and Dumbledore's departure. Even though this happens a little differently in the books, where, Cho's close friend is still the traitor, she appears to have bad judgment either way.

She's also shown as being over-emotional and bad at communicating her feelings to Harry - these aren't unexpected for a teenager getting over the death of a boyfriend, but still don't make her a likable character.

9 Seamus Finnegan

Seamus Finnegan, similarly, isn't strong when it comes to loyalty. He needs some convincing to join the group in the first place and believes some of the lies that Rita Skeeter spreads early on about Harry.

His tendency to put weight in negative rumors about someone who's supposed to be his friend makes him one of the more unlikable characters. Otherwise, he's not particularly talented or memorable, making him one of the less-likable members of the DA.

8 Lavender Brown

Lavender Brown, who is hardly even a character in the movies until The Half-Blood Prince, is unlikely to be anyone's favorite character.

She's overly possessive of Ron, and even though he can make his own decisions, influences him to be overly clingy and neglect his friends. On the other hand, she's pretty harmless outside of their short-lived relationship.

7 Parvati Patil

Parvati isn't a terrible character, but she also isn't that great: she's just kind of there.

She agrees to be Harry's date to the Yule Ball in The Goblet of Fire and deserves some sympathy for how he ignores her when they attend the ball. Otherwise, she doesn't do much except hang out in the background as Lavender's friend.

6 Dean Thomas

Dean Thomas is another background character whose defining traits are being friends with Seamus and being muggle-born. The worst that can be said about him is that he's friends with Seamus, who is too quick to believe gossip news.

He does attain a spot on the Gryffindor Quidditch team in The Half-Blood Prince, however, and considering he doesn't cause accidental explosions as often as his friend Seamus, must be at least slightly better at magic. Having magical or athletic talent doesn't make someone automatically likable, though, and ultimately the best that can be said for Dean is that he isn't all that bad.

5 Colin Creevey

Colin Creevey is introduced in The Chamber of Secrets as being annoying and stepping on Harry's toes all the time. Even then, the way he shamelessly admires Harry is kind of adorable.

By the time Year 5 comes around he's not as starstruck anymore, but his endearing enthusiasm remains. His energetic personality and caring relationship with his younger brother Dennis make him likable even if he is still mostly a background character who some would call annoying.

4 Fred & George Weasley

Fred and George Weasley are hardly ever separated in books or movies, and so it makes sense to keep them together in a single entry. They're friendly, creative, and the resident good-natured tricksters. What's not to like?

Sure, they can have an annoying side and sometimes find it hard to be serious. But they're fun to watch and read about, and ultimately have good hearts.

3 Ginny Weasley

Ginny is smart, funny, pretty, and goes after what she wants. She's the kind of girl everyone wants to be friends with, and it seems like she's willing to be friends with just about anyone, even those who have questionable reputations, like Harry and Luna Lovegood.

She's great at casting spells, famous for her "bat-bogey hex" and ranking high in both intelligence and magical power against other members of the DA.

2 Neville Longbottom

Despite being a minor character, Neville Longbottom has a complex story that inspires both humor and sympathy. There's no doubt he's as brave as any Gryffindor, from the moment he stands up to Harry, Ron, and Hermione in their first year to how he helps re-start Dumbledore's Army and kills Nagini in the last movie.

He's also one of the most friendly and considerate members of the DA, often lending a helping hand to other characters and never having anything unkind to say.

1 Luna Lovegood

Luna is a lot of fun and doesn't care what other people think. Even though she has a reputation for being "loony" with her unusual beliefs and odd habits, her friendliness and openness draw people to her.

Her willingness to resist conforming even when being herself gets her in trouble is the reason fans and characters love her and look up to her.
