Final Fantasy 7 Remake Sale Is the Cheapest Price For The Game Yet

A sale for Final Fantasy 7 Remake at multiple retailers makes the game the cheapest it's been yet. Square Enix’s lauded remake of its fan-favorite Final Fantasy 7 released earlier this year on PS4. The game received praise for staying true to the original’s story while also expanding it to provide more background on its world and characters, though its pacing received some mild criticism. The game isn’t finished yet, however, as the recent release was only the first part of the game. Part two is in development with no solid release date yet.

Since its release, Final Fantasy 7 Remake has remained consistent in price, with the standard edition being the normal $59.99 and the digital deluxe edition sitting around $79.99. This pricing is no surprise, as it’s the typical model for AAA titles from acclaimed developers and publishers this generation. Whether this remains true with the next generation has yet to be determined. Take-Two Interactive’s NBA 2K21 already casts doubt on that possibility, as the game is priced at $70 for the standard edition due to its “next-gen quality.”

As spotted by VG24/7, the latest Final Fantasy 7 Remake sale makes the game the cheapest it’s been since its release. At third-party retailers such as Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Target, the remake is on sale for $39.99 while the PlayStation Network Store has the standard edition listed for $39.59 and the digital deluxe edition for $52.79. Much of the game’s DLC has been made available for free on the PSN Store as well. The sale is scheduled to last through August 19th.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is arguably one of the best games available on the PlayStation 4. Returning to Midgar and experiencing some of the franchise’s best story moments while interacting with some all-time favorite characters fills veteran gamers with nostalgia. The game raises the bar for what remakes should seek to accomplish by not straying from the original tale, while still enhancing it through additional backstory and character development.

For fans who didn’t pick the game up at launch due to its price tag, now is the perfect time to get pick it up while the sale lasts, especially during the pandemic when people’s finances are strained. A sale on one of the best games of the year couldn't have come at a better time for many people. While the game isn’t free (rightfully so), this all-time low of a price is a steal, especially considering it’s only been less than four months since its release.
