Former Real Housewives of Atlanta regular Peter Thomas has tested positive for COVID-19 after socializing without a mask. The restaurateur and entrepreneur is currently bedridden with such symptoms as pain, cramps, gastrointestinal issues, chills, and hydration struggles. He has not left his bed for eight days.
Ex-husband to former wife and co-star Cynthia Bailey, Thomas was regularly featured on RHOA. Set in Atlanta, the hit Bravo reality TV program has been well received by fans of the franchise. Viewers watch as the socialites mingle and keep their personal and professional lives on track. Relationships, whether platonic or romantic, are often murky and always on display, but that's a staple of the franchise. Even after the couple's highly publicized divorce, Thomas has made appearances on the show a handful of times.
As reported by All About The Tea, Thomas took to Instagram just two short days ago to tell fans more about his experience with the virus and offer advice on what to do amidst the global pandemic, which has ravaged the world. “Everybody told me to take the COVID test five times, and I was negative five times. On the sixth time, I was positive,” the tycoon shared. Similar information regarding testing and its inaccuracy and wait times has been circulating through many other news outlets and social media. You can watch Thomas' video for yourself below:
Thomas urged followers to “wear your mask, wear gloves, practice social distancing…” He iterated that he repeatedly has taken off masks to pose with fans for pictures, even though he reports he was worried about catching the virus. He speaks about the immeasurable amount of pain he is in and states “I got to be in bed another seven days before they come and take the test again and I have to be negative twice before I can even think about going outside.” He is keeping his spirits up by reminding himself that he is indeed alive while others are not. While Thomas is taking the virus seriously now, past Instagram posts show that wasn't always the case. One post shows him standing arm in arm with 10 friends at an outside gathering. The post is from just over a week ago, on July 25. While some areas of the country seem to be in decline, socializing with a group of this size is still considered high risk.
If Thomas was not taking COVID-19 as seriously before, he has definitely seen the error of his ways now. Holed up in Miami, Florida, one of the worst-hit areas in the country, he is using his platform for the better and urging all fans and followers to take this virus seriously. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Peter Thomas.
