The next iteration of the Call of Duty: Warzone Combat Pack for Season 5 is now available to PlayStation Plus subscribers as a timed exclusive, as is the norm for the partnership between Sony and Activision for the PlayStation 4. Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 began last week and brought with it the Verdansk Stadium, an exciting map addition that offers players a unique area to fight in that wasn't really present in the battle royale's environment previously.
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 has only been around for a few days, but that hasn't stopped players from uncovering the new season's first mystery in the form of the Stadium Access Cards. Scattered throughout the map, players who collect enough of them can get access to a small room with a computer that generates numbers and characters. Currently, fans aren't sure what to make of the mystery, which has amounted to discovering a Loadout Drop alongside the blueprint to the Enigma assault rifle and some maps all over the walls of a small room. Still, it's this kind of content addition - on top of the obvious benefits, like new map areas, weapons, and more - that make Warzone's Season Updates an important fixture in how it maintains its popularity.
One element that's making a return in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 is its corresponding Combat Pack, which is once again a timed exclusive for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and is available now as per an announcement from PlayStation's European Twitter account. This Season's pack contains the Epic Zane Footballer skin, which sees the player able to suit up in a soccer jersey, as well as another cosmetic in the Injury Time watch. The Season 5 Combat Pack will be a PlayStation Plus exclusive until October 1, 2020.
Fans, as usual, are excited about the content drop - provided they play using PlayStation Plus. Others are, once again, echoing the sentiment that timed exclusives are inherently negative presences in the video game industry, and it's a divisive topic that continues to see no end. Meanwhile, fans playing through Warzone Season 5 received a mid-game Call of Duty 2020 tease, which is obviously a huge announcement when it happens, as it impacts the future of both traditional multiplayer and Warzone's battle royale stylings.
While the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 Combat Pack is certainly appealing from an aesthetic perspective, it remains an example of how timed exclusives continue to isolate users unproductively. Hopefully, when Activision, Sony, and the rest of the gaming world makes the leap to next-gen, this practice will be left behind - or at least, if nothing else, a less prominent aspect of one of the most popular online multiplayer experiences currently going in Call of Duty: Warzone.
