SATC: Samantha’s 5 Best & Worst Traits | ScreenRant

When it comes to loving, stylish, genuine and exciting characters and friends on television, there are not many better examples than the gal pals on Sex & the City. These women lived chic lives in New York City, and they went through so many ups and downs together.

One of these main characters was Samantha Jones, a vibrant, flirty, dramatic and intoxicating public relations professional who was always there for the other ladies. While she was entertaining to watch on TV, she was not perfect. That being said, her five best and five worst personality traits are listed out down below!

10 She Was A Great Friend

As stated, Samantha was a great friend, and the bond between these characters was a central theme throughout the series. Sure, there were big personalities and disagreements along the way, but no matter what happened, they were always there for one another.

Samantha, in particular, offered up advice, listened to her pals’ problems, stood up for her loved ones and knew how to have a good time.

9 She Could Be Selfish

As a human, though, one of her biggest flaws was that she could be selfish. She was attractive, witty and successful, and this could go to her head at times.

She could point the conversation at herself, go on and on about her life and look down on others, due to her ego and vanity.

8 She Was Confident

On a positive note, these quirks showed that she was very confident. From how she spoke and what she wore to her views on life in general, she was, without a doubt, one of the most vivacious, exuberant and self-assured characters on TV.

Even when people around her (including, at times, her BFFs) made comments about how she was acting, dressing or sleeping around, she stayed true to herself and confident in her game!

7 She Cheated On Smith

Speaking of sleeping around… A fan favorite boyfriend on this show was Jerry “Smith” Jerrod; he was hot, charming, an actor and so sweet to Samantha (especially during a very tough time in her life).

As fans know, she cheated on him with Richard, who was not the best guy. She felt horrible, and Smith, being the amazing guy he was, forgave her.

6 She Was A Powerhouse

All of the main characters on SATC had interests and gifts that were put on display through their hobbies and careers. For Samantha Jones, she worked in PR, and she was quite good at her job.

Her bold personality certainly helped out in this area, and as soon as she walked in a meeting or a party, it was clear that she was a force to be reckoned with.

5 She Took Advantage Of Clients At Times

A negative aspect, when it came to her job, was that she took advantage of her clients at least once; viewers surely remember when she wanted a Birkin bag and said it was for her client, Lucy Liu. She lied and used this actress, just to get an accessory!

Hopefully, she learned a bit of a lesson when Liu fired her.

4 She Wasn’t Afraid To Speak Up & Out

Obviously, Samantha enjoyed and excelled at speaking up and out, and she did this even when it was hard. For instance, she was not afraid to call out her friends, show them tough love and force them to be honest with each other and with themselves.

She used this trait with herself, as well, being bold enough to give the brutally honest truth (even if no one else wanted to hear it and even if it made her look bad).

3 She Was Sometimes Insensitive

Being so outspoken could sometimes lead to insensitivity.

When her pals just needed to vent, she, at times, was brash. And when it came to her love life, she could be rude, breaking up with and ghosting men for reasons such as their height and their income (or lack thereof).

2 She Made Big & Bold Decisions (Even When It Hurt)

Along the same lines and on a more positive note, this character should also be praised for her big and bold decision-making skills. In the workplace, within her love life and when hanging out with her buds, she always remained so poised and powerful.

When the time came to make hard decisions, like ending a relationship, she never beat around the bush, wasted time or played along… She cut to the chase with a directness that was respected.

1 She Didn’t Always Take Important Issues Seriously

Finally, on the list of her not-so-great traits, Samantha did not always take important issues seriously, and there were two stand-out moments of this.

First, despite her somewhat promiscuous lifestyle, she didn’t want to get tested for STDs, which is scary and irresponsible. Then, when it came to politics, she made a joke about just like parties in general, rather than siding with Democrats or Republicans.
