The Ten Best Quotes In The Toy Story Franchise | ScreenRant

The Toy Story franchise is one of the most well-loved animated franchises of all time. The charming, timeless first film was revolutionary in a multitude of ways, while the second was the first computer-animated sequel of all time. Toy Story 3 was an incredible return to the franchise that fans loved, while the fourth and final film was much more divisive. All four films had some fantastic quotes that ranged from meditative laments on life, childhood and loss, as well as some genius moments of humor.

We’ve found ten of the best quotes from across all four of the films.

10 “To Infinity And Beyond”

Of course, the most iconic quote to come out of the Toy Story franchise is Buzz Lightyear’s catchphrase: “to infinity and beyond.”

It’s a simple sentence that encapsulated Buzz’s existence as a toy, while also finding a way to further the message of hope and ambition the series embodies. It’s as though it’s encouraging kids to aim for the impossible, and then go even further.

9 “You Are A Child’s Plaything”

Towards the start of the first film, Woody explains to Buzz that “you are a child’s plaything.” It seemed like an insult that would discourage Buzz from his commitment to being a real space ranger, it was actually so much more.

We learn the extent of Woody’s love for being a toy and said “plaything” throughout the franchise, which suggests that Woody viewed this sentence as encouragement for Buzz to accept the fact he is actually something far better than a space ranger.

8 “You Saved Our Lives...”

This one doubles up as one of the best and most memorable quotes from the franchise, as well as one of the funniest. When Wood saves the aliens from The Claw, they are forever in his debt, and they don’t let him forget it.

“You saved our lives, we are eternally grateful,” they explain, every time they help out.

7 “You’re Right, Prospector...”

As the Toy Story films went on, it became more and more clear that Andy was growing up. We all know that we don’t continue playing with our toys forever.

When Wood said “you’re right Prospector, I can't stop Andy from growing up, but I wouldn't miss it for the world,” we could see that he was devastated by the fact that Andy might grow distant, but loved him so much that he still wanted to see it happen.

6 “Plush And Huggable...”

“The guy may seem plush and huggable on the outside, but inside, he's a monster!” This is what Buttercup says to Woody to reveal that Lotso isn’t all that he seems.

It kicks off Woody’s quest to save his friends, while also reiterating the fact that not all toys are good, just like people.

5 “Being There For A Child...”

Toy Story 4 might not have the same caliber of quality present in the other three films, but it still had some brilliant quotes.

Woody manages to convince Forky that not only is he not “trash” but that he is an important toy and “being there for a child is the noblest thing a toy can do.” That’s exactly what Woody was for Andy.

4 “New Toys!”

Has there ever been a more relatable moment in film than when Andy delightedly shouts “new toys”? His childish glee is one of the most relatable things about the first Toy Story film, while the quote doubles up as a reflection of our own excitement.

Surely we all shouted “new toys” every time a new Toy Story film was announced?

3 “Here’s Woody...”

“Now Woody, he's been my pal for as long as I can remember. He's brave, like a cowboy should be. And kind, and smart. But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.”

These were the lines that Andy spoke to Bonnie when giving up the toys we had come to love over three films. Try to find more emotionally charged words in a film. Try.

2 “So Long, Partner...”

If you made it through Andy’s explanation of who Woody was and why he was so important without crying, then there is still one more line that’ll really get you.

As Woody waves goodbye to the boy whose name is on his foot, he mutters a subtle “so long, partner” as he sees him for the last time.

1 “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”

“You’ve got a friend in me. You got troubles and I got ’em, too. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. We stick together, we can see it through ’cause you’ve got a friend in me.”

These are lyrics from Randy Newman’s song, ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’, which appears in some form in every Toy Story film. The lyrics are beautifully uplifting and encapsulate the meaning behind the entire franchise.
