Being the adapted version of the UK's hit comedy series, Shameless (US) never really got its fair share of praise, although the show, in its own right, has remained consistent for years. Once the show's seventh season was yet another hit with fans, Showtime never really thought twice before ordering its eighth season.
Season seven had a lot of new things, like Lip Gallagher converting into his father and blaming him for every bad thing in his life. Fiona made some strides in the landlord business, while Frank was back to square one after Monica's death. Here's how every episode from the eighth outing of the critically acclaimed series ranked, according to IMDb.
12 "Church Of Gay Jesus" (7.9)
The tenth episode of season 8 is all about Ian and the new cult he helped organize. He is now known as The Gay Jesus.
Yes, everyone thinks he is a godly figure who has all the answers, when he is actually just trying to find his purpose like the other Gallaghers, who are trying to find ways to keep themselves happy, only to ruin it all altogether.
11 "The Fugees" (8.0)
In the ninth episode of season 8, Svetlana finally opens up to Kevin and Veronica about not liking her current state of affairs. Fiona is trying to make Ford happy by befriending his friends, but she isn't good at this.
Meanwhile, Lip wonders whether he should tell Sierra the truth about Charlie and his secret baby because this could literally throw her life off balance.
10 "Occupy Fiona" (8.2)
In the seventh episode of season 8, Ian is leading a movement against his sister Fiona and it's a sight to see. There's nothing better than a good old brother-sister fight.
Carl, on the other hand, gets some help from an unknown source, as he tries to find ways to get his tuition fee. And Lip has to take responsibility for Professor Youens because the latter doesn't want to appear at the DUI trial.
9 "Frank's Northern Shuttle Express" (8.2)
In the eighth episode of season 8, the best bits come from Debbie trying to figure out how to be a mom, be unemployed, and deal with school.
She is still a child and it's not fair on her to make such big decisions. Furthermore, it looks like Fiona and Ford are getting closer, but Fiona's taste in men hasn't been good. So, it's doubtful that this will turn out any differently.
8 "Where's My Meth" (8.3)
In the second episode of season 8, Kevin is all about goodbyes, as he prepares to do a huge thing, while Fiona has to work on her landlord skills and evict someone from the apartment building.
Frank is joining the workforce - yes, he is actually working. Also, Lip is prepared to do something very evil. He wants to be with Sierra and it turns out he is ready to ruin Charlie's chances by doing whatever it takes.
7 "The (Mis)Education of Liam Fergus Beirchart Gallagher" (8.3)
In the fifth episode of season 8, Frank is feeling pretty good after becoming popular with the parents at Liam's new school. He is now teaching them about the working class as he does with everyone.
Lip gets hurt, while Ian helps Trevor raise some money for an important thing. Fiona is trying to do something for the neighborhood, but the Gallagher family might clash.
6 "Icarus Fell. And Rusty Ate Him" (8.3)
In the sixth episode of season 8, Frank is happy, again, and this time it's because he has got himself a credit card - his first-ever.
Elsewhere, Fiona is made to look upon her loneliness after a tenant dies, which shakes her for the good. Lip wants Carl's help in order to figure out where his AA sponsor is because, chances are, he is getting wasted.
5 "Sleepwalking" (8.3)
The season 8 finale is a disappointing end to an average season. Fiona is still dealing with her tenants, but it looks like she might have a solution.
Lip has to come to terms with the fact that he doesn't really feel anything about Sierra, while Ian has found a way out of his precarious situation. Elsewhere, Carl is out of Kassidi's hair and he must be really glad.
4 "We Become What We … Frank" (8.5)
In the first episode of season 8, Frank has decided to become a decent human being, but how long will it last? Fiona isn't going for a relationship, as she focuses on her work - that is, her apartment building.
Lip has to sacrifice some of the things he loves in order to be sober. He just doesn't want to end up like his father and it looks like he'll do anything for this.
3 "F**K Paying It Forward" (8.5)
In the fourth episode of season 8, Kevin and Veronica are doing something huge. Kevin is going to meet his birth family and it's a pretty big deal, considering the fact that he doesn't know anything about them.
Lip is having some relationship problems and the same can be said about Ian. They could advise each other, but the Gallaghers are rarely good at anything.
2 "The Gallagher Pedicure" (8.6)
In the penultimate episode of season 8, the Gallaghers are signing themselves up to disappoint others, with the exception of Fiona who is struggling to deal with her rogue tenants who are suing her for an insane amount of money.
Lip will have to deal with another one of Sierra's problems, as her murderous father is released from prison. Carl and Kassidi are bonding, by the looks of it.
1 "God Bless Her Rotting Soul" (9.0)
In the third episode of season 8, Frank is improving his lifestyle and it seems like he is pretty serious about it, while the Gallaghers are visited by a violent meth dealer who wants his part of the money back.
So, Lip, Ian, Carl, and Debbie are in a run against time to come up with something before Fiona figures out the truth. Fiona is busy trying to remove a tenant.
