Annapurna Interactive PS4 Collection Includes Exclusive Physical Editions

Annapurna Interactive, a publisher known for its many beloved indies, revealed a physical PlayStation 4 mega-bundle in collaboration with iam8bit this morning which will contain eight of the company’s greatest hits. The Annapurna Interactive Deluxe Limited Edition is notably the debut for physical copies of Telling Lies and Gorogoa on the PS4, but those are not the only games indie fans can get excited about. The set, which Annapurna jokingly referred to as the “Bangers Only Collection,” is available to pre-order now but will ship later in the year.

Not content to rest on its considerable gaming laurels, the indie publisher has several upcoming projects to look out for. The Pathless, an action game being developed by Giant Squid, is striving to change up the open-world formula and will release sometime in 2020. In the vein of some of Annapurna’s more experimental titles, The Artful Escape is set for launch this year and promises to be an out-of-this-world, musically inspired experience. Both Maquette and Twelve Minutes also need to be included on any list of indies to keep an eye on this year, especially since the former recently announced a wildly star-studded cast.

Looking back to company’s already released games, The Annapurna Interactive Deluxe Limited Edition on offer from iam8bit brings together a collection of the best, just in time for the publisher’s fifth anniversary. Fans will be able to get physical PlayStation 4 copies of Donut County, Gorogoa, Kentucky Route Zero, Outer Wilds, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Telling Lies, Wattam, and What Remains of Edith Finch. The limited-edition package also contains exclusive messages from the games’ creators as well as a few words from Annapurna’s founder. While it's packed with hits, this deluxe collection of critically acclaimed games comes at a somewhat deluxe price. To get in on the Annapurna celebration, fans will have to pay $199, which they can do now as part of a pre-order.

Annapurna is not the only one in the indie scene celebrating an important milestone, though. Back in August, the creators behind Braid announced that the game would be getting a special edition to mark its anniversary during Sony’s State of Play. Complete with remastered graphics, some additional content, and an extremely detailed audio commentary, the Braid Anniversary Edition will launch early next year.

The independent gaming space is becoming more and more popular, and there is no sign of it stopping anytime soon. Sometimes, with the overabundance of games to play, it can be easy to miss out on some of the important classics that blazed a trail in the indie scene. The Annapurna Interactive Deluxe Limited Edition’s price might be a little high, especially for anyone saving up for the next generation of consoles this year, but this bundle includes some fantastic games and would be a great addition to an indie fan’s collection.
