Batwoman has cast Leah Gibson and Nathan Owens for season 2; the actors will recur as the Whisper and Ocean in the series, respectively. Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, Batwoman is a CW superhero drama created by Caroline Dries. The series' season 1, which premiered in October 2019, followed Ruby Rose's Kate Kane and her titular superhero alter-ego's adventures in the street of Gotham, after the disappearance of the city's caped vigilante, Batman. Rose, however, quit Batwoman after season 1. Now the show's season 2 will feature Javicia Leslie's Ryan Wilder as the new superheroine.
Leslie isn't the only new cast addition to Batwoman season 2. As Deadline reported on Thursday, the series has also added Jessica Jones alum Leah Gibson and Devious Maids star Nathan Owens in recurring roles to its upcoming season. Gibson, who was most recently seen in the NBC drama Manifest, will embody Tatiana, AKA the Whisper, in Batwoman season 2. Gibson's Whisper is Safiyah's (Shivaani Ghai) indispensable helper and her potential love interest. She is a trained assassin who doesn't flinch in the face of danger. Meanwhile, Owens, who is best known for his role as Cameron Davis in Days of Our Lives, will play Ocean in the forthcoming show. Ocean is a zen gardener and a passionate warrior. Leaving behind his troubled past, he has arrived in Gotham in to search for a new beginning.
It will be interesting to see how Batwoman incorporates the new characters into its plotline, as the show already has a lot on its plate with Kate Kane's disappearance and the rise of Ryan Wilder as Gotham's latest savior. The Whisper is seemingly inspired by Whisper A'Daire, a classic Batman comics villain. But it is currently unclear if the televised character will share the same superpowers as its printed counterpart. Ocean is a completely new character and, given his description, it appears that he will ally with Ryan Wilder on her mission to rescue Gotham.
