The CW reboot of classic '80s primetime drama and soap opera Dynasty has modernized the show's concept. With three seasons now under its belt, the story of the crazy and opulent lives of the Carrington family draws viewers in with every twist and dramatic event. One of the central characters on the show is Fallon Carrington, the smart, ambitious, and self-obsessed Carrington daughter. She was born into wealth and excess but is hellbent on making a name for herself as a successful businesswoman, without relying on daddy to get there.
When she is first introduced, she is in a long-term secret and unofficial courtship with her father's personal driver, Michael Culhane. Though seemingly it's not so secret as everyone knows about it. Later, however, she meets a stranger named Liam who, due to circumstances far too confusing to get into, they get married, divorced, then engaged again. But which of the two men is really right for her?
10 Culhane: He Was Her First Love
Fallon is only in her 20s and while she has been with plenty of men, none of them have really been meaningful relationships. Except for Culhane. It's clear that he's different from other guys she has dated and that she has real feelings for him. While a lot of their relationship revolves around physical intimacy, they also rely on one another emotionally.
Sure, they didn't really put a label on things until years later. But you never forget your first love. And the reason they broke up should have been a small bump in the road. They were meant for one another.
9 Liam: He's As Wealthy As She Is
Culhane does well for himself, and even better now that he's running a soccer team. But he never really understood Fallon's lifestyle, aside from the fact that he was part of it on the service end.
Liam, on the other hand, grew up just as wealthy as Fallon. He knows what it's like to live under constant public scrutiny and with parents who are laser-focused on money and greed, and willing to do anything to get it. They think on the same wavelength in some respects.
8 Culhane: He's A Genuine Person
Culhane is a genuinely decent person. He has always looked out for Fallon, even when he didn't have to. He tried to help any way he could to make her into a better person versus always being deemed the villain. He even saved a child from drowning once!
There's no question that Culhane always had pure intentions with Fallon when he could have easily used her for her money. He made a mistake, but it doesn't tarnish his otherwise squeaky clean reputation.
7 Liam: He Accepts Her For Who She Is
Liam doesn't try to change Fallon. While he will call her out for her flaws, he never tries to make her into someone she isn't. He merely states facts.
He accepts her wholly and completely for who she is and seemingly has no interest in trying to convince her to be someone she isn't – from the way she acts to what she wears and even how she chooses to conduct her business, he just lets her be her and do things her way.
6 Culhane: He Tries To Make Her A Better Person
While Culhane also accepts Fallon, he also did try to change her in some ways. In most cases, it was to try and encourage her to be a better person, urging her to play nice with her father, for example, or to be more courteous to Kirby, or to curb her constant stream of insults.
It was thanks to him, for example, that she went to work in a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving, that she invited everyone from the church to the family home for dinner, and that she put other peoples' needs first. She needs someone like him in her life to bring her down to earth every now and then.
5 Liam: They Make A Good Team
Their plan to fool Liam's mother into thinking they were breaking up, or that there was at least tension between them, was perfectly executed and so clever. And while they did this in partnership with Blake, it proved they work as a perfect team. On another occasion, when Fallon wanted to catch her mother in a lie during Blake's trial, Liam dutifully pretended to be a dog photographer to keep a woman busy who was getting in the way while Fallon investigated.
They go together so well and while they argue, they do always come together, compromising on their needs and doing what is necessary to help one another.
4 Culhane: He Appreciates Family
Culhane is super close to his mother and younger sister and was close to his father when he was alive. Sure, he kept his real occupation a secret from them out of embarrassment. But he always made sure they were taken care of and did it because he wanted them to be proud of him.
Liam's childhood isn't much different from Fallon's, in that he grew to despise his mother and left home to be as far away from his family as he could and had even planned to write a book exposing his crazy family. Culhane could have shown Fallon how life with a close-knit family could really be, something Liam didn't understand either.
3 Liam: Blake Likes Him
It's rare that a judgemental father would so quickly like a soon-to-be son-in-law of his only daughter, and especially a ruthless businessman like Blake. Sure, Blake did like Culhane as well, but their relationship went sour, and there's no turning back for it.
On the other hand, Blake has openly expressed his appreciation for Liam. He thinks he's good for his daughter, respects that he comes from a wealthy and powerful family, and appreciates the way he has taken their side in disputes with his mother.
2 Culhane: He Could Help Her Appreciate The Small Things
Liam has always lived a lavish lifestyle and has expensive tastes like Fallon, dating as far back as her first-ever solid food, which was apparently white truffles! Culhane, on the other hand, knows what it is like to struggle in life and to live with very little when it comes to access and material possessions.
He could help bring Fallon down to earth and encourage her to appreciate the small things.
1 Liam: He Steps Up When She Needs Him
Whenever Fallon has needed Liam, aside from that short period of time when he couldn't remember her due to a brain injury, he was always there. In fact, their entire relationship began because he was literally right there when she needed someone to help get her out of a jam. That jam involved potentially marrying Jeff Colby, who she didn't even realize at the time was her cousin.
Even when he didn't 100% agree with her, Liam was always by Fallon's side, willing to do whatever it took. So, he has earned his spot to capture her heart.
