However, like any TV series or movie, there are certain characters fans like more than others, and there are some characters people simply just hate. Here are five characters on Saved By The Bell that are liked by fans, and five that fans do not seem to like very much.

10 Liked: Richard Belding

Mr. Belding is the principal of Bayside High, and he takes his job very seriously. He cares about his students, and he wants all of them to succeed. He does not come across as a typical mentor for a sitcom, but his character fits the tone of the show.

He may get annoyed when the lead character, Zack Morris, does something wrong or manipulates him, but Mr. Belding sees the potential for greatness in all of his students, making him not only a great principal, but a wonderful person, in general.

9 Disliked: Zack Morris

Zack Morris may be the lead of the series, but over time, fans seemed to notice that the character is not as terrific as he appears to be. He constantly manipulates his friends and gets them in trouble.

His friends are very loyal to him, and there are many occasions where he has to learn the same lesson about the importance of friendship and how to treat others. His character is very full of himself, and he seems to always put himself before others.

8 Liked: Jessie Spano

Jessie is way more than the typical one-dimensional character typically shown in these kinds of shows. She is pretty well-rounded. She is on the cheerleading squad, yet she is also an A student. She finds the balance between her own needs and the needs of others.

The episode where she gets addicted to caffeine pills is, arguably, the most famous episode of the series, and viewers can really understand how stress can affect a person when watching the episode. Overall, she is a good, loyal friend, and the dynamic between her and A.C. Slater is fun to watch.

7 Disliked: Screech Powers

Screech used to always be a fan favorite, yet over time, the love for this character as decreased dramatically. The character is very out-of-place, even for a corny, over-the-top sitcom like this, and he comes across as a live-action cartoon character.

His jokes and the situations he gets involved in are funny to an extent, but sometimes he comes across as too ridiculous, making his scenes more annoying than funny. His character can lead to many teens rolling their eyes, making his character not as beloved as he used to be.

6 Liked: A.C. Slater

Slater is the big athlete at Bayside High, yet he does not let his popularity get to his head. He cares about his friends and defends them, even Screech. The dynamic between him and Jessie is one of the best parts of the series, and the rivalry between Zack and his character in the early years of the series is just as memorable.

He has a good heart, enjoys spending time with his friends, and even when he makes mistakes, the good always outweighs the bad.

5 Disliked: Leon Carosi

Leon is meant to be sort of a Mr. Belding-type character during the Malibu Sands story arch in the series. He is the father of one of Zack's love interests, Stacey Carosi, played by The King of Queens actress, Leah Remini.

He always gets angry with our lead characters, no matter how small a mistake is made. He comes around a little bit by his final appearance, but it is not enough for him to be considered a likable character. He is a foil for the main characters, and viewers cannot help but dislike him just as much as our favorite characters do.

4 Liked: Lisa Turtle

Lisa's character is always fun to watch whenever she is on the screen. Between being a good friend, showing confidence in what she is passionate about, and even dealing with Screech every time he asks her out, it is no wonder she is a favorite character in the series.

She never really had a huge story in the series, which is a shame because whenever she was on screen, viewers couldn't help but like her and her fun one-liners and lovable personality. She stands out in the group, and she is probably one of the most underrated characters in teen sitcom history.

3 Disliked: Jeffrey Hunter

This was Kelly's boss at the Max, the gang's main hangout spot, and Kelly's attraction to him led to the initial breakup between Zack and Kelly. Viewers were devastated when this event occurred. Jeff did not even consider the fact that Kelly was already in a relationship before he made a move on her.

Anyone that comes between the fan-favorite couple tends to be disliked, but the fact that he ended up cheating on Kelly a few episodes later, led to the viewers hating him even more.

2 Liked: Kelly Kapowski

Like Jessie, Kelly is more than a one-dimensional character. She may be the most popular girl in school, the head cheerleader, and the captain of the volleyball team, but more than anything else, she is a good friend. She arguably defends Screech more than any other character.

She is always kind to others and wants what is best for everyone. Viewers cannot help but like her every time she is onscreen, and it is no wonder why Zack Morris fell for her in the first place.

1 Disliked: Tori Scott

This character does not add anything to the series. Tori Scott was brought in after Jessie and Kelly left the series part-way through the final season. Viewers of the show tend to get disappointed when they see her in the opening credits because they know two of their favorite, beloved characters will not appear in the episode.

There is no chemistry between her and Zack Morris, even though there is a romantic plotline between the two of them, and overall, she just seems so out-of-place in the series, making her appearances awkward and not interesting to watch.
