WARNING! Spoilers to Amazing Spider-Man: The Sins of Norman Osborn #1, in stores now!
As Spider-Man grapples with a city under siege by the villainous Sin-Eater and his followers, he shares his thoughts and worries to fellow Spider-Man Miles Morales. While Peter debates the pros and cons about Sin-Eater's plan to kill long-time Spider-Man foe Norman Osborn, Miles argues against Peter interfering, not wanting to see Peter Parker die. Despite his warning, Spider-Man heads to Ravencroft in hopes of getting to Norman before Sin-Eater and Miles confront other Spider-themed heroes lead by Julia Carpenter, the current Madame Web, who apparently have had visions foretelling of Spider-Man's upcoming death.
In the issue by writer Nick Spencer and artist Federico Vicentini, the first gathering of "The Order of the Web" sees Miles Morales discussing Spider-Man with Madame Web, Silk, Ghostspider/Spider-Gwen, Spider-Girl and Spider-Woman. Having not really worked together in the past, Madame Web points out all the assembled heroes share a spider-totem which means their place in the Web of Life and Destiny connects their paths with one another's. Citing specific moments where Spiders came together, it is revealed that Miles is not the only person who saw Peter Parker die in his dreams, whether they want to acknowledge it or not.
Gwen reveals that she had a dream where she and Peter, despite her Peter Parker having died years ago, are fighting a shadowy individual together in a battle that ends with Peter falling to his death from a bridge. The incident and location heavily implies their foe was Norman Osborn, with glimpses of the Ultimate Green Goblin horns and the Brooklyn Bridge, where Peter's Gwen died. Silk reveals that she had a similar dream but for Cindy, Peter died at Empire State University. Miles reiterates that his dream had Peter die in Queens. As for Jessica, she saw Peter die at the Avengers Mansion. Julia Carpenter reveals that these are not nightmares but visions brought on through their connection to the Web, which foresees that its champion will be killed soon, apparently by Norman Osborn's hand.
As Spider-Man, unaware of this discussion, experiences difficulty in protecting Norman from Sin-Eater's forces who have overtaken Ravencroft, everyone here is in agreement and the Order of the Web moves to accomplish their goal of saving Spider-Man. While web-slinging through the city, Miles asks Julia what her vision of Peter's death was, if she had any. Julia doesn't say but her vision consists of Peter's death at the hands of Kindred, the story's puppet master who's been manipulating events within Peter's life for some time.
For all their talk of webs, one can hope that these spider-themed heroes don't end up trapped in someone else's web, befalling the same fate that they're trying to prevent for one of their own.
