The Mandalorian: 10 Things You Might Have Missed In The Season Two Trailer

As soon as Disney+ launched in November 2019, the world was introduced to The Mandalorian. The first live-action Star Wars series, it followed a bounty hunter named Din Djarin who formed a beloved bond with The Child, better known to fans everywhere as Baby Yoda, although he's just of the same species as the legendary Jedi master.

The show became an instant hit and is currently nominated for a Best Drama Series Emmy. Season two is highly anticipated and now has a premiere date of October 30, 2020. The trailer just dropped and although fans have surely analyzed it already, there are still some things you may have overlooked.

10 The Abyssin Species

At one point during the trailer, there is a voice heard telling Djarin, "This is no place for a child." Closed captioning revealed this to be said by a character named Gore Keresh. Fans have never seen or heard of him before but he actually appears near the end of the trailer.

He is the one talking with Djarin just before the fight breaks out. The interesting thing is that he's of the Abyssin species. That race of alien has previously been spotted during the famous Mos Eisley cantina scene in 1977's Star Wars. There was also an Abyssin Clone Wars character named Jackar Bowmani.

9 Jedis Are Discussed

One of the coolest moments from season one saw The Child bust out some Force powers. The action took Djarin by surprise and when it was later brought up, it seemed like nobody really knew what it was. By this point in the story, Jedis were kind of just the stuff of legend.

That has clearly changed in this trailer. One of the earliest lines heard is, "The songs of eons past tell of battles between Mandalore the Great and an order of sorcerer called Jedi." With the inclusion of the popular Ahsoka Tano this season, it's not all that surprising but it is welcome to have confirmation.

8 There's Water Travel

This may not be a huge plot point or anything like that but it's still pretty unique and interesting. One part of the trailer showed Djarin arriving at some boat docks. At first glance that might not seem all that strange but it isn't something often seen.

While the Star Wars universe is a vast one, things like boats and travel by water aren't all that common. There's also another quick glance at Djarin and The Child standing around on what looks like a fishing vessel. That would also be new for this world.

7 Cara & Greef's Whereabouts

The premiere season of The Mandalorian introduced audiences to a barrage of fun characters. Two who stood out were Cara Dune, a mercenary, and Greef Karga, a leader of a bounty hunter guild. Both work alongside Djarin in some of the show's best moments.

When the season wrapped, they had just fought against Moff Gideon and his troops. The trailer only gave audiences a quick glance at them and while fans certainly spotted them, it was their surroundings that were worth noting. While their location isn't confirmed, it seems like they were still on Nevarro, where that last fight went down.

6 Multiple TIE Fighters

By this point in series lore, the Empire had fallen following the events of Return of the Jedi. There's also no sign of the First Order rising quite yet. So, it came as a real shock when Moff Gideon showed up in the final few episodes in a TIE Fighter, known to be part of the Imperial fleet.

Some fans theorized that Gideon's TIE Fighter was kind of a relic and a rarity. However, this trailer revealed several TIE Fighters, including one coming off the ground. Considering other shots of Stormtroopers, there's a chance the Empire lives on a bit here.

5 The Razor Crest Is Damaged

The opening shot of the trailer sees Din Djarin's ship, the Razor Crest come into focus. For the most part, it feels like your traditional establishing shot that is in all sorts of trailers. However, a closer look reveals that things aren't so simple for the hero.

When you pay attention, you'll notice that the lights inside of the ship seem to be flickering. Furthermore, the back door is open and flapping around, while the engine has sparks shooting out. This means that something pretty bad has happened and it'll be interesting to see who or what is behind it.

4 The Armorer Speaks

One of the first characters introduced in the series was The Armorer. Like Din Djarin, she is a Mandalorian but her role was different. She forged armor and equipment for Djarin and others using Beskar steel. She was also helpful in dishing out Mandalorian tradition.

The first voice heard on the trailer says, “Show me the one whose safety deemed such destruction.” It sure sounded like The Armorer and it is confirmed if you watch with closed captioning. This enforces that she retains her role as someone with knowledge.

3 Mandalore The Great Is Mentioned

Speaking of The Armorer and her extensive knowledge of Mandalorian lore, she mentioned something pretty notable in the season one finale. She told a tale about someone known as Mandalore The Great. He was someone known for leading the Mandalorians in a battle against the Jedi Order.

The Armorer relayed this story after learning that The Child was Force-sensitive. She mentioned it again in the trailer by saying, “The songs of eons past tell of battles between Mandalore the Great and an order of sorcerer called Jedi.” This hints that fans will learn more about him this season.

2 Tatooine Returns

Many considered "The Gunslinger" to be the worst installment of the series so far but there was one fun bit about it. It took Djarin and The Child over to Tatooine, which brought back all sorts of memories for fans. Tatooine is where Luke Skywalker lived when first seen in Star Wars.

The trailer seemed to indicate that the location returns in season two. It's a quick glance but the Razor Crest is shown flying over a sandy planet. There just so happens to be a Tusken Raider watching on a bantha. These things are known to be found on Tatooine.

1 WWE Superstar Sasha Banks

Wrestling fans everywhere certainly caught this and it even trended on Twitter. However, for those who don't know her, WWE Superstar Sasha Banks appeared in the trailer. It was reported that she filmed something for the new season but nobody knew what it was.

Many assumed it would be a small cameo as plenty of stars love the chance to get involved in the franchise. However, Banks has a prominent appearance, watching from afar in a hoodie. She disappeared as Djarin said, “You expect me to search the galaxy and deliver this creature to a race of enemy sorcerers?” It can't be a coincidence that Banks was shown doing that while discussing Jedis.
