10 Villains We Want To See In The DCEU & Who We Think Should Play Them

In most comic book movies, we always root for the hero to overcome their obstacles and come out victoriously, saving the world in the process. But no movie is entertaining without an iconic villain with a master plan and power that only the hero can rival, sometimes the movie is more entertaining when the villain wins.

Luckily for DC, there are plenty of iconic villains that not only challenge the hero but are almost always steps ahead and challenge our favorite heroes and push them to their limits. Looking at the long list of characters and DC's ever-expanding list of movies, let's look at some villains that we would love to see in the DCEU.

10 Reverse-Flash - Wilson Bethel

Arguably one of the most iconic villains in DC, Reverse-Flash is a ruthless, unpredictable genius with only one goal, to make the Flash's life as miserable as possible. Driven insane by his destiny of being The Flash's greatest enemy, he goes back in time and literally bullies Barry to keep him from living a normal life and kills his mom to prevent him from being a hero.

He's a dangerous villain, with the same powerset of the Flash and intelligence to always be 10 steps ahead. Any actor that plays Eobard Thawne needs to be able to handle the complexity of the character and the uneasiness of an unleashed Eobard. Wilson Bethel not only has the look for Reverse-Flash but also has experience playing an iconic villain.

9 Trigon - Liev Schreiber

A literal demon created out of pure evil, Trigon is one of the most powerful creatures in all of DC. Trigon is a booming figure who intimidates with his look, powerset, and goals of ruling the universe. He is nearly unstoppable, and he's extremely ruthless with no mercy for anyone, not even his own daughter, Raven.

Bringing Trigon in can not only help introduce the Teen Titans into the DCEU but it can also make for an enjoyable villain due to all his powers and overpowering presence. Any actor taking on this role not only has to have physical intimidation but also a booming deep voice and a sort of sophistication about him, someone like esteemed actor and supervillain veteran, Liev Schreiber.

8 Ra's al Ghul - Daniel Day-Lewis

Ra's Al Ghul is one of the most mysterious yet intriguing villains in DC, hiding in the shadows for hundreds of years and only coming out to commit acts of eco-terrorism. He literally trained Batman, fathered Damian Wayne, and has come into conflict with several Justice Leaguers.

He is a difficult guy to read and his mystery only leads to more distrust. Iconic Academy-Award winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis might have what it takes to take on Ra's Al Ghul, with his masterful performances as iconic villains in Gangs of New York and There Will Be BloodDay-Lewis retired from acting in 2017 due to his battle with depression, so it would be tough to cast him, but he would still make the perfect Ra's.

7 Professor Ivo - Seth Green

Don't let his awkward wirey nature fool you, he is an evil genius that has made some of the most world-threatening inventions ever. He's responsible for things like Amazo, Red Tornado, Tomorrow Woman, and even an immortality serum due to his fear of death.

To really capture his mannerisms and behavior, there needs to be someone who can balance between comedic and dramatic acting, and a veteran in both those genres is acting legend, Seth Green. It's only a matter of time before he makes his debut in the DCEU, it might as well be as Professor Ivo.

6 The Joker - Lakeith Stanfield

This next villain needs no introduction. It's not the first time we've seen the Joker on the big screen and it won't be the last given he is one of the most iconic villains across all mediums. He may not have powers or any real plans other than to cause chaos, but it's this that makes him so great.

One never knows what they're going to get with the Joker, a big reason why every actor that portrayed the Clown Prince of Crime has had their own take on the villain.  With Joaquin Phoenix not showing interest in reprising his role and Jared Leto more than likely out as the Joker, it's time to find a new Joker. To pull him off, the actor needs range and the will to do whatever it takes to capture the Joker's insanity, and Lakeith Stanfield would work perfectly, giving the Joker a whole new look.

5 Brainiac - Ralph Fiennes

One of the most dangerous villains on this list and one who can very well be a villain for a Justice League movie or a crossover is Brainiac. He's a "scientist" from another planet who goes around the galaxy studying different species so that he can obtain all the knowledge in the universe. His quest to be the source of all knowledge has him committing genocide, which can obviously be an issue for the JLA.

Brainiac is very stoic and calm in his approach, never showing any emotions and showing his ruthlessness to anyone that stands in his way. This ruthlessness and willingness to do whatever it takes was perfectly captured by Ralph Fiennes, who played one of the most iconic villains of all time in Voldemort. He not only has experience working with prosthetics but has the villainy down.

4 Vandal Savage - Benicio Del Toro

Another Justice League level threat is the seemingly immortal and unkillable Vandal Savage. He is one of the most underrated characters in all of comics, literally living thousands of years and accumulating knowledge, wealth, and experience in those years.  In comics, we've seen him scheme some of the worst plans and recruit some of the worst villains to match up against the heroes.

Being immortal, Vandal is very confident and sure of himself and he uses this charisma when he's recruiting other selfish villains. Benicio Del Toro has the onscreen charisma and confidence to nail the role and it helps that he has the look as well.

3 Sportsmaster - Anthony Starr

He's one of the most underrated threats in the DC universe, considering he doesn't have any special powers, but he is one of the most formidable fighters in the entire DC universe. He has had a long history of fighting heroes, from the JSA to the Bat-family, with him even marrying a fellow villain and fathering Artemis Crock.

Sportsmaster was a former athlete, so he's really competitive, cocky, and arrogant about his skills. The onscreen presence must portray all of these, very similar to how Anthony Starr does playing Homelander in the hit series The BoysHe not only has the blonde hair and confidence, but he has the experience of playing a titular character in a comic book themed movie/show.

2 Professor Pyg - John Carroll Lynch

With the new Batman movies taking a dark and gritty twist, it would be the perfect time for Professor Pyg to make his debut. Formally a doctor, he suffered from schizophrenia and OCD and it made him a murderous villain, who capture people for experimentation and mutilations.

Adding him as a villain to rival Battinson would make for a spooky, almost horror movie feel, which means the actor playing him needs experience working in horror movies and putting on a bone-chilling performance. Actor John Carroll Lynch has plenty of experience playing spine-chilling characters in American Horror Story.

1 Poison Ivy - Zendaya

With Birds of Prey finding success in the box office, director Cathy Yan wants to include the romance between the crazy Harley Quinn and the elegant and powerful Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy is more of an anti-hero these days but that doesn't mean she's not above killing and taking what she wants without asking.

Ivy is very sure of herself and passionate about the green in the world. She feels a connection to them and they are very much her sweet spot. To play her properly the actress would need sugar, spice, and everything nice, with Zendaya nailing each aspect of that.
