A Grand Theft Auto fan has posted one of their ideas for a loading screen in Grand Theft Auto VI, and it features Daniel Radcliffe. There has been no official word for when GTA VI will be released, but that hasn't diminished fan excitement.
It has been seven years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V by developer Rockstar Games, and while fans of the franchise have been satiated in the meantime by Grand Theft Auto Online, there is still a longing for the next installment. Rockstar has spent recent years focused on Red Dead Redemption II, but with the next generation of consoles less than a month away, it is likely news of some kind will come out indicating what's next for GTA before long. In the meantime, fans have to rely on their own imagination for what may come next. This is typical when a franchise has long gaps between game releases.
Reddit user JoeyNisco posted a piece of concept art depicting an idea for an online play loading screen. The image depicts actor Daniel Radcliffe standing in front of a palm tree-filled street. What makes the image so memorable, however, is Radcliffe's attire and demeanor. In it, he is wearing a bathrobe and monster-feet slippers while brandishing two pistols and sporting a crazed smile on his face. The comments on the Reddit thread are mainly jokes that combine this hilarious concept with Radcliffe's most famous role, Harry Potter.
While Radcliffe is best know for his time as the boy who lived, he has diversified his roles since Harry Potter. This particular image of the actor is a set photo from the movie Guns Akimbo, a film where Radcliffe's character literally gets guns nailed to his hands. The image became a meme when a Potter fan tweeted it out with the caption, "the new Harry Potter movie looks great." This is all made even more amusing by the recent viral video in which clips were edited from the Harry Potter franchise to replace all of the wands with guns.
Funnily enough, this is concept art paints a disturbingly accurate picture of what GTA Online can be like, right down to what he is wearing. It is a clever crossover of fan art and meme culture that works to tremendous effect. Though it is unlikely that something like this would ever be used by Rockstar, it might be worth some sort of acknowledgement by the developer. If this were to catch on, then perhaps Rockstar could incorporate it into Grand Theft Auto VI somehow and potentially get Daniel Radcliffe in on it. Radcliffe is a well known video game lover, so that might not totally be out of the question.
