Telltale Games Teases Wolf Among Us 2 With Hilarious Indiana Jones Gif

Telltale Games has teased a fan with an Indiana Jones gif to hint at the return of The Wolf Among Us. Telltale is known for its narrative-heavy, choice-driven games, many of which have adapted prominent IPs like The Walking Dead and Batman.

While many of Telltale's video games have been received very well, the studio certainly has a checkered past. In 2018, the studio shut down almost completely, firing 90% of its workforce with little warning. The gaming community was shocked and appalled, and saddened at the apparent loss of several ongoing video game stories, which it seemed would now be abandoned unresolved. In 2019, however, the studio was resurrected with a new management team. The excitement at this revelation was tempered by the class-action lawsuit Telltale was still a target of, and by the knowledge that the employees who had been fired without warning or severance would not be getting their full-time jobs back. Still, the resurrection was good news for fans of Telltale's classic story adventures.

Unfortunately, so far this good news hasn't been fulfilled for fans of The Wolf Among Us. While a sequel is ostensibly on the way, there haven't been any updates for a long time. One fan got tired of waiting and implored Telltale for updates on Twitter, prompting a humorous response from the company (via Game Rant). Telltale uses a gif from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark to assure the fan that it has "top men" working on the game right now. It must be noted that the "top men" in the source film are a complete fabrication; the government agent at the end of the film claims that these top men are working on containing and researching the legendary Ark of the Covenant, but in reality the relic is being boxed away in a massive warehouse to be forgotten and ignored.

It remains to be seen what this tease means for the future of the beloved adventure franchise. Telltale has fallen quite a ways since its closure in 2018, and in its new form it's reasonable to expect that development times would be lengthened. But depending on how literally the developer is taking its Indiana Jones gif, this could also be a sign that the studio intends to lock away the game forever and leave it unfinished. If so, this would be an awfully callous way to inform fans of the game's ignominious fate.

Video game development can be a very tricky business. Games get delayed all the time, as Cyberpunk 2077 fans have unfortunately discovered time and time again. Major studio developments get in the way all the time. The Wolf Among Us fans can take solace in the fact that the company has at least acknowledged the game's existence, but depending on how deep this reference goes, it might not be the news they wanted to hear.
