The Mandalorian: 5 Things Fans Finally Saw In Season 2 (& 5 Things We Hope Will Happen In Season 3)

The Mandalorian continues to be the most-talked-about series of the year, thanks to the phenomenal season finale. In the season 2 finale, fans saw the return of Luke Skywalker, leaving several of us touched and emotional about the nostalgia of a beloved character. Also, everyone saw the conclusion of the story between Grogu and Din Djarin, as Din accomplished his mission to help Grogu find the Jedi.

Since the first season, fans have hoped that certain things would happen in the second season. After waiting for roughly a year for the show's return, they were delighted to see events and moments that did occur on-screen with Grogu and Din, which left many satisfied with the second season's content. However, the story has only started, so fans hope to see the show go in a specific direction that meets their expectations for season 3.

10 Finally Saw In Season 2: Grogu's Name

For a year, fans referred to the small and cute green creature as either the Child or Baby Yoda since he came from the same species as Master Yoda. Usually, most shows would drag on the secrets about a character and not reveal it until several seasons later. Surprisingly, the show revealed his name by the second season.

Baby Yoda's (or the Child's) real name is revealed to be Grogu, thanks to the help of Ahsoka Tano. Not only were people ecstatic to learn his real name, but it was cute to see how Grogu responded to his name and how Din Djarin was having fun repeating his name.

9 Hope To Happen In Season 3: Learning More About Grogu's Species

Fans hoped that season 2 would reveal more about Grogu and Yoda's species, such as the species' name and if there is more of them than everyone thinks. From all fans know about them so far, they are cute, green creatures who are Force-sensitive.

Unfortunately, viewers do not have answers to these questions and only have theories. With Grogu's story resolved by the season 2 finale, the possibilities for more information about them may not occur. However, Gideon may have answers about him since he was an ex-ISP officer. Also, he commented on the exceptionality of Grogu, which may hint at his knowledge about him and a potential plot point for season 3.

8 Finally Saw In Season 2: Jedi

Considering that Grogu is one with the Force, it became Din's mission to help Grogu be with the right people. Of course, this means that more Jedi were to appear in season 2 to accomplish this mission, and we were not disappointed at the outcome.

Season 2 had an episode titled "Chapter 13: The Jedi," which featured the first Jedi to appear on the show, Ahsoka Tano. Not only was it exciting to see a popular character in live-action, but she was resourceful for revealing more information about Grogu. Of course, no one can forget the mind-blowing entrance of Luke Skywalker in the season finale, who ended up being the Jedi responding to Grogu's call.

7 Hope To Happen In Season 3: More Original Story Plots

Season 2 had several fan services and nostalgia, with characters like Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano making an appearance. As much as everyone loves seeing characters return from the movies and animated series, fans also want to see new content.

Considering that the plot with Grogu has ended, the direction for season 3 is unclear, with no indication of what is to come. However, the show could explore more of Din's character arc. Furthermore, viewers could look at the backstories of original characters like Cara Dune and Karga and view their character development in season 3.

6 Finally Saw In Season 2: More Mandalorians (Especially Popular Ones)

Given the show's name, viewers expected to see more Mandalorians aside from Din Djarin. Fortunately, more Mandalorians appeared in the second season, many of whom are popular to fans. Though technically not a Mandalorian, Boba Fett revealed himself to be alive after years of fan theories. Therefore, many fans were thrilled to see an old character reappear and become more present in the universe.

Furthermore, Bo-Katan was another popular character from The Clone Wars series that featured on the show. Her introduction showed a different kind of Mandalorian who do not follow the ancient values of Mandalore.

5 Hope To Happen In Season 3: More Lore On The Mandalorians

Both seasons 1 and 2 hints at the lore and history of the Mandalorians, including the Mandalorian and Jedi rivalry. Furthermore, at least for casual fans, they learned about the conflict within the Mandalorians that led to subgroups, such as New Mandalorians and Children of the Watch.

Though casual fans could learn more about Mandalorians from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian could dig deeper into the roots of Mandalorians, the training under those in the Children of the Watch, and the process of restoring the inhospitable planet Mandalore.

4 Finally Saw In Season 2: More Of Din Djarin's Face

Din Djarin followed strict rules as a Mandalorian since he was raised by the code of the Children of the Watch that values ancient traditions. One of these traditions includes never revealing one's face. Though Din Djarin does a decent job following these rules, he technically broke it in season 1. However, the removal of his helmet in season 1 did not count since he only showed his face to a droid.

Fans were hoping that there would be more removal of Din's helmet, given the season 1 finale. For most of season 2, he followed his "no helmet removal" rule until the penultimate episode, "Chapter 15: The Believer," and this time in front of other humans, such as Mayfeld. Though it appeared this was a one time deal, viewers saw him remove his face again in the season finale. His helmet removal was more emotional since he showed his face to Grogu before giving an emotional goodbye.

3 Hope To Happen In Season 3: More Of Din Djarin's Face

Though fans got more "no helmet" Din Djarin in season 2, two times is not enough for one season. Let's be honest. Everyone wants to see more on-screen appearances of Pedro Pascal's face while playing Din Djarin. His performance in the season 2 finale was great, as he tearfully watches Grogu leave with Luke Skywalker. This moment would not exist had he not removed his helmet for this occasion.

While Grogu may be out of the picture for a while, Din's story is only getting started, and the revelation regarding the New Mandalorians may hint at possible plotlines for season 3. While fans are likely to see Din be more involved with the Bo-Katan and her Mandalorians, they might also see a conflicted Din Djarin, who could abandon the ways of the Children of the Watch to prefer the New Mandalorian.

2 Finally Saw In Season 2: Mando Vs. Moff Gideon In Face To Face Combat

Although everyone knew that Grogu's life was in danger, the actual villain did not appear until the season 1 finale.  Moff Gideon arrived with style and became a worthy villain, which led to a Mando vs. Gideon duel on air. Though Mando believed that Gideon died in the crash, viewers eventually saw that Gideon survived and revealed the Darksaber.

Since then, fans were hoping for another Mando vs. Gideon fight, but this time with face to face combat. Fans finally got this fight scene between Mando and Gideon in the season 2 finale, where Mando once again defeated Gideon and held him as a prisoner.

1 Hope To Happen In Season 3: More Backstory On Din Djarin

It seems likely that Din Djarin's character will be the focus in season 3. While viewers partially learned about Din's childhood and how he became a Mandalorian, there is still so much fans do not know about Din and his backstory.

In the first season, his parents were killed by droids before being saved by the Watch. Unfortunately, his backstory did not develop more in the first season, leaving fans wanting more. Furthermore, there was a little backstory about Din in season 2, as his arc focused on his relationship with Grogu. It would be interesting to see his story before the droid attack, the training he received since he was a child, and his growing occupation as a bounty hunter before meeting Grogu.
