How To Set Up Voicemail On An iPhone 12 | Screen Rant

Setting up voicemail on an iPhone 12 is a crucial step in making sure the user doesn’t miss out on an important call. While setting up an iPhone 12 in general is as easy as following the prompts displayed on the screen, adding a voicemail is also a simple process that requires only a few steps to complete. Adding to the simplicity, the steps are very similar between carriers, including Verizon and AT&T.

Various changes came with the new iPhone model, including the decision to not include new chargers in the box. While many of the core features of an iPhone tend not to change that often, there are times when they do. For example, starting with the iPhone X, Apple changed how the user turns off or restarts the iPhone, though it is still a user-friendly process. Upgrades with the new iPhone 12 series include wireless MagSafe charging, the A14 Bionic chip, and Ceramic Shield to prevent damage to the screen. There are also plenty of features that iPhone users will already be familiar with, including Siri and Apple Pay.

With an iPhone 12 or 11 on Verizon or AT&T, the first step is to open the Phone app, located in the bottom-left of the screen. Then tap the Voicemail symbol in the bottom-right and then on the Set Up Now button before entering a password. For Verizon users, the password needs to be between four and six digits while AT&T requires the password to be between seven and fifteen digits. Once the password is set, the user will be asked to re-enter it again before tapping “Done” to complete the process of setting up voicemail.

It’s also possible to set up a custom greeting for the caller to hear when they leave a voicemail. To get started with a personal greeting, just access the Voicemail app and then tap on Custom. The Record button can then be used to start the personal recording and the Stop button to finish. Once the custom greeting is recorded, hitting Save will immediately apply the new voicemail message. If a user doesn’t want to record a custom greeting, they don't have to as it isn’t required. Instead, they can tap on Default to use the generic voicemail greeting.

If a user ever needs to change their voicemail password, that's also fairly simple to do. First, open Settings and then tap on the Phone icon. Next, tap “Change Voicemail Password” and then enter the new one. To complete the process, re-enter the new password once again and before tapping the “Done” button. Overall, setting up a voicemail, custom greeting, or changing the password is easy to do, which is not surprising considering it is a necessary and important function for any phone user, iPhone or otherwise.
