Hulu’s Palm Springs commentary cut has been added to their streaming service. The film features Andy Samberg as a drunk wedding guest who has been stuck in a never-ending time loop for longer than he can remember. Cristin Milioti accidentally joins Samberg in the Groundhog Day-inspired repeating day, coming face-to-face with her own mistakes and the consequences of her actions. At the same time, a romance begins to bloom between her and the least likely person. J.K. Simmons, Camila Mendes, and Tyler Hoechlin round out the rest of the hilarious wedding party.
According to Variety, Hulu has stated that the commentary cut of Palm Springs is the first of its kind in the streaming era and is reminiscent of the days of DVD extras and bonus discs. This special version features comments from Samberg, Milioti, director Max Barbakow, and screenwriter Andy Siara. Check out the trailer below:
With Palm Springs considered one of the best films of 2020, especially when it comes to comedy films, it makes sense for Hulu to deliver a special version of it around awards season to give viewers another reason to revisit the summer hit. Commentary cuts sound a little outdated, but hearing the cast and crew talk about the film adds a new layer of detail that usually takes dozens of interviews to get. And it can't be forgotten that Samberg is one of the funniest people on the planet, and being able to get his original take and memories about the film for no additional money... definitely worth it.
