The first two seasons of iCarly are now available to stream on Netflix. Hailed as one of the most popular teen sitcoms of all time, iCarly ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons from 2007 to 2012. The show's titular character was played by Miranda Cosgrove, who had jumped from another hit Nickelodeon sitcom, Drake and Josh, to lead her own series. iCarly primarily centers on a popular, eponymous web-show that Carly had created with her friends, Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), in the apartment loft she shared with her older brother Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor). But the show also explored the teenagers' lives as they tried to balance their routine tasks with their wild popularity that often put them in hilarious situations. Recently, Paramount+ has ordered a revival of the series, which will find Cosgrove, Kress, and Trainor reprising their original roles.
On Monday, Netflix announced that the first two seasons of iCarly had been added to its content library in a tweet. Currently, iCarly is only available to stream in the US, the UK, and Latin American countries such as Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. There is no indication if and when other regions will get access to the show. Additionally, Netflix hasn't revealed if it will add more seasons of iCarly in the future.
Although the popular teen show's re-emergence on Netflix is exciting news, fans should not get too worked up as the two seasons might be the only ones from the show ever to be added to the streaming giant. The Paramount+ revival of the series is currently in active development, as the show's fast-paced progress has been teased by Cosgrove in an on-set reunion photo recently. This means the two Netflix iterations are intended to serve as promotional runs for the upcoming reboot. In fact, once the iCarly revival premieres on Paramount+ and the original series becomes available to stream on the platform, even the current seasons will likely be axed from the Netflix library. For now, fans should enjoy the show while it lasts.
