Behind Her Eyes: The 10 Saddest Things About Louise | ScreenRant

As one of the protagonists of Behind Her Eyes, Louise (Simona Brown) played a pivotal role in the series' plot. She was a single mother who developed romantic feelings for a man she met at a bar. He turned out to be her new boss, David Ferguson (Tom Bateman), at the clinic she works at. While David also loves her, he is married to Adele Ferguson (Eve Hewson), who ends up becoming Louise's friend.

Unable to tell either David or Adele about her connection with their spouse, she finds herself in a complicated relationship. While she comes off as a traitor to Adele, who sees her as her only friend, there were more things about Louise that the audience actually pitied.

10 She Feels Left Out

Louise's son, Adam (Tyler Howitt), spends some of his time with his father Ian (Aaron Anthony), Louise's ex-husband. One day when Ian comes to drop off Adam, he asks for Louise's permission to take Adam to Paris with him. He tells her that his girlfriend is pregnant and that she rented a place in Paris and he thinks it would be good for Adam to form a connection with his new family.

Louise rejects his proposal immediately. With Ian trying to get Adam involved in his new family, Louise must have definitely felt left out.

9 Sophie Tells Her To Stay Away

When Louise talks about her complicated relationship with David and Adele to her friend, Sophie (Nichola Burley), Sophie tells her to stay away from them both, saying that the two are married and that Louise has to give them their space.

From Louise's point of view, she thinks that it is not her mistake that David and Adele are happier with her than with each other. Some might feel she is not wrong, but her friend sees her as the one interfering in the Ferguson's relationship. However, even before she came into the picture, their marriage was failing.

8 She Felt Guilty

For Louise, meeting David was like finally meeting someone she could connect with. She often felt guilty about loving him and she felt bad for backstabbing Adele because Adele saw Louise as her only friend in Central London and trusted Louise.

Louise does feel that she doesn't have to be the only one doing the right thing all the time. However, there was a part of her that felt she was in the wrong and it had an impact on her dreams. Besides, Adele's manipulation was at the core of Louise blaming herself.

7 She Had Night Terrors

Louise has night terrors almost every night and she has the same nightmare every time. In it, she sees herself walking through a hallway with the walls pounding.  She calls out Adam's name like she is searching for him. Due to these nightmares, she always wakes up crying and there was a time when she hurt her hands too.

It is sad to see that Louise's unavoidable nightmares affect her life so much. What's worse is that the doctors did not help her, as they disregarded her experience.

6 She Found Love But Had To Give It Up

With Adam at home and her work schedule, Louise rarely had the time to date. Even when she found someone to date, they usually left when they saw her having night terrors. For someone who had a tough time getting into a relationship with someone, David gave her some hope.

The two met coincidentally at a bar and Louise liked him. She was content about finding the man for her, only to find out later that David is already married. To think that she could have met anyone but David and lived peacefully with that person also adds to her sadness as a character.

5 She Struggles With Her Mom's Death

When Adele finds out that Louise has night terrors, she promises her that she will help her to stop having them. When the two are talking about it, Louise opens up about her past. She shares about the time her mother died.

Louise tells her that she went to a clairvoyant who knew things that Louise only shared with her mother and the clairvoyant's words made Louise feel like her mother was still there. While talking about it, she cries, showing how heartbroken she was by her mother passing away.

4 When Adam Said He Hated Her

Coming back from his father's place, Adam was excited about the idea of going to Paris with his father and his father's girlfriend. When asked about the trip, Louise does not permit it, to which Adam gets angry and tells Louise that he hates her.

While Adam is just a little kid throwing a tantrum for not being able to do what he wants to do, Louise must have been hurt by his words. Louise treasures Adam so much and he is her only family as far as Behind Her Eyes reveals.

3 She Was Unknowingly Manipulated By Adele

Louise and Adele became friends after they bumped into each other one day. Adele often reminded Louise that Louise was her only friend and she would even share her marital problems with Louise. What Louise did not know was that Adele was complaining about her marriage, while knowing that Louise was having an affair with David.

Louise already felt bad about her relationship with David, but Adele made it worse. While it seems like Adele is a victim in Louise's eyes, Louise is the one who is being victimized, in this instance.

2 She Calls Herself A "Practice Wife"

Following Louise and Ian's divorce, Ian started dating other people. In one instance, Ian talks about his pregnant girlfriend, Lisa. He tells Louise that he wants Adam to spend some time with Lisa.

Seeing how considerate Ian is with Lisa, compared to how he used to be with her, Louise feels a bit sad. She thinks that she was just a "practice wife" with whom Ian learned what to and what not to do in a relationship. Now, with Lisa, he is trying to do only the right thing.

1 She Lost Her Life

By the final episode of the series, Louise realizes that Adele is not the person she pretended to be. She finds out that Adele has manipulated her, but even after knowing Adele's true character, Louise went to help her after she sent Louise a text that suggested she was going to take her own life.

She risks her own life by doing astral projection to save Adele, only to find out that Adele had planned all of it to get her soul into Louise's body and live as Louise with David. Unfortunately, Louise died because of Adele's deception.
