One of the best games of the previous console generation has arrived on a new platform, as Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition is now available on Google Stadia. Dragon Quest 11 is a turn-based RPG that tells the story of a hero called the Luminary, who must save his world from eternal darkness at the hands of wicked demons and mages.
The Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest 11 comes with a ton of additional content and QoL improvements, making it a worthwhile purchase for people who bought the original version of the game. There is now a full 2D mode, which allows the player to experience the game as if it were one of the 16-bit Dragon Quest titles. There is also a massive sidequest involving a mysterious town called Tickington, where players can go visit the worlds of the previous Dragon Quest games. The Definitive Edition also has entire new story chapters focusing on the different party members, during a segment of the original game wherein they were all separated.
Dragon Quest 11 S is already available on a number of platforms and it's now making the jump to browsers and mobile devices. Google has announced that Dragon Quest 11 S is now available on its Stadia streaming service, with an introductory discount of $31.99/£27.99. This offer ends on March 31, 2021.
Google Stadia is known for having input lag issues with games in the action, fighting, and shooter genres. This likely won't be as much of a problem with Dragon Quest 11 S, as the game is entirely turn-based, so there is no need for any twitch gameplay. This is why the Dragon Quest games also tend to work well on mobile phones.
There are rumors of behind-the-scenes issues at Stadia, but Dragon Quest 11 S is a great new game for the service. It offers a lot of content and is the kind of game that's easy to whip out on a mobile device and play for brief spurts of time while on the bus or a train.
