Publisher Capcom reportedly confirmed the next demo for Resident Evil Village will actually feature content from the game's final build. RE Village's first demo, dubbed Maiden, hit PlayStation 5 earlier this year as an exclusive, but does not represent what players will experience at launch in terms of content.
Above all else, Maiden acts as a technical showpiece that allows players to experience RE Village's impressive sounds, visuals, and frights firsthand. The brief demo takes place in the castle in which Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters reside. Players who solve Maiden's puzzles and tough it out to the end are bound to learn of the underlying, and often overt, horrors that also lie in the house of Dimitrescu. Capcom previously noted it has no intention of deploying the Maiden demo on other platforms; however, a second Resident Evil Village demo is in the works for all platforms.
In reading Famitsu's coverage for the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil, LimitedRunGames' Japan Business Manager Alex Aniel shared a few bits of insight gleaned from the piece. Most notably, Aniel reports that Capcom confirmed the second RE Village demo will "feature a portion taken from the final game." In another post, Aniel said the publisher mentioned its plans of hosting additional Resident Evil Showcase events. No specifics were offered on the matter, but, apparently, the future showcases will revolve around both RE Village and the franchise's 25th anniversary.
Since information regarding the next demo remains so scarce, it's promising to hear it will include gameplay from RE Village's final version. The Maiden demo provided a great mood piece, yet its status as technical showcase meant players were unable to get a feel for the moment-to-moment gameplay. As such, fans are eager to navigate their way through a lengthier demo, which should arrive in the not too distant future given the horror title's imminent release.
A sequel to 2017's Resident Evil 7, RE Village once more places Ethan Winters and his wife Mia at the core of the overarching narrative. Based on what's been shown of the experience, thus far, these two have again found themselves tangled in a web of terrifying circumstances.
Resident Evil Village is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on May 7.
