Below Deck: A Look At The Franchise's Most Surprising Boatmances

The nautical Below Deck franchise is a big hit with fans, and we're ready to take a closer look at its most shocking boatmances. Some of them happened this season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. The fans are used to love connections being made below deck. However, some of these boatmances haven't worked out too well.

This season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans have watched Gary King (who's been called out for his lack of appeal due to being a playboy), Alli Dore, and Sydney Zaruba's uncomfortable love triangle. Sydney feels she has first dibs on the lead deckhand because she kissed him first. However, Alli is also a fan of flirtatious Gary. When the crew has nights out, the throuple's members are usually the last ones standing. This has led to skinny dipping and a few drunken insults. The relationship on the boat looks like it is about to crash and burn.

There have been numerous boat romances in past seasons, but none has surprised fans or Bravo producers as much as Jean-Luc Cerza and second stew, Dani Soares. No one saw their romance coming. The relationship was caught on film since both worked at night and secretly sneaked some smooches. Matt Reichman from Bravo revealed that the relationship caught him off guard because Soares and Cerza were in such different stages of their lives. He pointed out that the stew was older (she was 32) and ready to settle down. As with other boatmances, fans noticed that there was intense chemistry. Jean-Luc and Dani just hit it off. The unlikely connection made the season particularly enjoyable.

There have been some other great couples that only lasted for a charter, including chef Adam Glick and Malia White, Eddie Lucas and Raquel "Rocky" Dakota, and Hannah Ferrier and Conrad Empson. Other one-charter pairs were Emily Warburton-Adams and Ben Robinson, Ciara Duggan and Paget Berry, and Jessica More and Robert Westergaard. The latter couple may be the other best-known romance, since many viewers thought they would go far. Instead, their lack of communication brought them down.

Bravo fans just watched Jean-Luc gush to his mother about the potential he sees in Dani, even though he admitted to cameras that he has never been in a serious relationship. This relationship seems to be the first boatmance with serious IRL potential. Below Deck franchise fans want an update. From their perspective, it is anchors away for these two, and Cupid’s arrows are flying. Fans also wonder what captains, such as Glenn Shephard from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2, think about the hanky panky onboard.
