The premiere date for Ryan Murphy's Halston has been released. Ryan Murphy is an American television writer/producer known for his work on Fox's Glee, Netflix's The Politician and Ratched, and the American Horror Story and American Crime Story series. Murphy has garnered recent success from his drama series, POSE, which explores the lives of African-American and Latinx LGBTQ+ drag performers in 1980s New York City. The show's star, broadway veteran Billy Porter, won POSE its first Emmy Award in 2019 for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Murphy also served as the main producer on The Prom, Netflix's film adaption of the 2016 broadway musical starring Meryl Streep and James Corden.
Murphy's new series Halston, starring Star Wars' Ewan McGregor in the titular role, announces its premiere date on what would be fashion icon Halston's 89th birthday. Deadline reports that the limited series will air globally on Netflix on May 14 of this year. The ensemble cast also includes Daybreak's Krysta Rodriguez, Bill Pullman, Rory Culkin, and Vera Farmiga, sister to American Horror Story alum, Taissa Farmiga. Deadline also included a gallery of photos featuring the cast, which can be seen below:

Murphy faltered slightly with his previous limited series, Hollywood, which aired Netflix in 2020. While the cast was stacked with big names like Darren Criss, Jim Parsons, and broadway legend, Patti LuPone, the miniseries only managed to pull a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Regardless, Murphy has experienced great success in his years as a showrunner by creating hit dramedy television that also gives a voice to social outcasts and marginalized communities; this was achieved most recently with The Prom, whose story centered on a young lesbian teenager navigating high school in conservative Indiana. With an exciting cast and a focus on the diverse, ever-changing world of fashion, Halston is sure to be a hit when it premieres this May.
