Kim and Barry Plath have given glimpses into their unusual parenting style throughout two seasons of Welcome to Plathville, but their strict ideals have only created rebellious children. Kim and Barry said they were reckless when they were younger, and wanted to raise their children in a home sheltered from the outside world. For the Plath kids, this meant no technology, social media, or sugar, while also being forced to wear very modest clothing. Naturally, as the Plath kids got older, they started to rebel against their parents' values.
Fans have gotten to see much of the older children's personalities, such as Moriah's constant pushing of her parents' boundaries, while Lydia strictly follows her parents' rules. As the oldest son, Ethan seemed to be very obedient until he married Olivia, and became exposed to more of the outside world. Many fans have expressed that they feel Kim and Barry let down their kids by not allowing them to have a life outside of the family, and it has caused a rift between the parents and their children.
Moriah most openly rebelled against her parents in season one and two of Welcome to Plathville. She often wore more revealing clothing than her siblings, dyed her hair, and even got her first tattoo earlier this year. Moriah also started dating earlier than her parents would like, though Kim and Barry seemed to support her relationship with Max after some time. Moriah showed the most desire to leave her family's farm. In season one, she could not wait to go on a trip with sister-in-law Olivia to California. She eventually moved out of the house by season two and started living with brother Micah so she could live by her own rules.
Micah has also had his fair share of rebellious acts against his parents. He strayed from their conservative dress code when he started pursuing a modeling career. This led to Micah posting several shirtless pictures on IG that have fans going wild. He also posed next to a female model on a bed, which has many fans wondering if that goes against his parents' strict moral code. As a result of him and Moriah moving out, they are not allowed to see their younger siblings without supervision.
Ethan has had some of the worst drama with his parents and, in some ways, has been the most rebellious of his siblings. His marriage to wife Olivia is among is his biggest act of rebellion, as Kim and Barry do not approve of Olivia and the influence she has had on him. Olivia gave Ethan his first soda and, more importantly, exposed him to the world he did not have a chance to learn about during his childhood. He ended season two finally facing his parents in support of Olivia, resulting in a heated argument between Ethan and Barry. Odds are, more rebellious acts from the Plath children will occur in season three of Welcome to Plathville.
