The PS Plus games for June 2021 have allegedly leaked and there's one pretty big standout title: Star Wars: Squadrons. Although the games haven't been confirmed, major titles like Star Wars: Squadrons have appeared through Sony's service before. May featured the likes of Battlefield V in the PS Plus line-up, another EA title, so it's clear that Sony is trying to put pretty large scale titles on the service as much as possible.
May's lineup certainly wasn't massive, as Battlefield V received a less than stellar reputation from fans and is largely considered to be one of the worst entries in the series. Still, it was used as a way to center the gaming conversation around Battlefield as EA prepares to reveal its next entry in the beloved series next month. Rumors have suggested a near-future setting for the next game, meaning V's WWII setting likely won't be relevant, but it did give players who'd never experienced the series a chance to give it a try, for better or worse.
EA is working on more Star Wars titles, which could explain why Star Wars: Squadrons is allegedly coming to the service less than a year after its release. The report comes way of Areajugones (via WCCFTech), a website that correctly reported May's titles. The site says that this month's games will be Star Wars: Squadrons, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, and Operation: Tango for PlayStation 5. Although it's possible that EA has just seen lower engagement and sales with Squadrons in recent months and wants to pump up some numbers like it did for Titanfall 2 in recent digital sales, it could also be setting up more EA Star Wars titles at EA Play this summer.
Either way, it's a pretty decent collection of titles to nab for no extra cost. Even if players don't have a PS5, they can redeem PS5 PS Plus titles online so that they have a healthy library of games ready to go when they get the console at a later date. In the meantime, games like Squadrons are available on PS4 for players to enjoy.
Although it's a slightly soft month for PS Plus if this list is true, it's still nice to see a game that released less than a year ago given away. Some fans may have passed on Star Wars: Squadrons due to all of the other games that launched last fall, or they may not have felt that the space shooter was worth the cost. Either way, if this leak holds true, it appears that Star Wars Squadrons will be available for everyone with an active PS Plus membership.
