Among Us New Map & Hide and Seek Mode Revealed At Summer Games Fest

Summer Games Fest is here, and not only has Among Us brought back its ominous Geoff Keighley mask skin, but it also has used the event to announce a plethora of new content coming to the game, including another map, a Hide & Seek mode, and an achievement system.

It's been an interesting year for Among Us and the developers at InnerSloth. After a lengthy amount of time out of the spotlight post-launch, Among Us gained popularity in mid-2020 thanks to streamers on sites like Twitch and YouTube. Once the wider gaming public began to catch on to how addictive Among Us' gameplay was, however, it seemed like it skyrocketed into one of the most popular games of the year overnight.

As Among Us' popularity grows, so too does the fanbase's desire for more content. Thankfully the team at InnerSloth is well aware of this, which is why Among Us is continually being updated to include things like new maps, new Among Us crewmate colors, and better chat features. During Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest 2021 event, it was revealed that Among Us will be adding an achievement system, more colors, another new map, visor cosmetics, and an official Hide & Seek mode.

This is exciting news for Among Us fans, who have been itching for new content ever since the release of the game's most recent new map The Airship. With such a small development team (not even large enough to fit into Among Us' upcoming 15-player lobbies) updates to the game take longer to implement than some players might be used to, but thankfully InnerSloth is often communicative and up front with players about what is going on behind the scenes.

Whether or not Among Us will continue to be as popular in 2021 and 2022 as it was in 2020 remains to be seen, but it seems like the game is here to stick around for a while. It isn't every franchise that can spawn an image iconic enough to cause someone to spend nearly $100,000 on a chicken nugget, after all, and the constant influx of new tasks, maps, and updates means Among Us fans have a reason to keep coming back to the game every few months, if not every few weeks.
