Batwoman’s Batwing has finally been revealed in a set of new posters, showing star Camrus Johnson in the character’s signature blue-and-black suit. Johnson has played Luke Fox on the CW show since season 1, and fans have been waiting for his superhero transformation for some time. Now, they can finally get a glimpse at what the Arrowverse’s Batwing will look like in action.
In the comics, the original Batwing was a man named David Zavimbe, who became part of Batman Incorporated after meeting Bruce Wayne. When he acquired his own suit, Zavimbe became Batwing and fought for justice in his home city of Tinasha, a fictional location set in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The character was later replaced by Luke Fox, the son of longtime Batman ally Lucius Fox, who fought crime in Gotham alongside other classic Batman characters. Since the beginning of Batwoman, that version of Batwing has been heavily teased.
Now, fans can finally see the new live-action Batwing in two gorgeous posters. Shared by Batwoman developer Caroline Dries on Twitter, the posters show Johnson’s Luke Fox fully suited up in the character’s signature blue and black. The new suit looks mechanized and pretty technologically advanced, giving an exciting new spin on the classic character’s look. Check out the new Batwing pictures below.
The Batwing suit has always been mechanically complex, and the Arrowverse version is no exception. Traditionally, the character also has wings as part of his suit (hence the name), which allow him to move around the city incredibly easily and get a birds-eye view of the action. The posters don’t show any such wings, but the second one does show Batwing dropping from what appears to be a high height, suggesting he may be dropping down from a flight path for a surprise attack. Stylistically, the Batwoman Batwing suit looks a bit similar to the mechanized armor Bruce Wayne wore in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, though obvious sleeker and less bulky.
It’s still not clear when Johnson’s Luke Fox will suit up as Batwing on Batwoman, but it should be soon. Season 2 has already been packed with twists and turns, and the introduction of a whole new hero should be exciting to watch. If the new suit is as strong as it looks in the posters, Batwing should be more than a match for the villains of Gotham City. Batwing will take to the streets alongside Ryan Wilder later in Batwoman season 2.
