Kraven The Hunter: 10 Alternate Versions Of The Spider-Man Villain

Kraven The Hunter is set to star in his own solo movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who previously played the MCU version of Quicksilver. Comic book readers know Kraven The Hunter is a major Spider-Man villain, but there are many versions of him from the comics. Which will be the focus of the upcoming movie?

From alternate timelines to his own children taking on the role, Kraven The Hunter is a mantle that has been handed down through the years since 1964. Kraven The Hunter first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #15, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, but he was far from the last alternate version of the Spider-Man villain.

10 Old Man Logan

Old Man Logan is a dystopian version of the future of the Marvel Universe in which most of the world's superheroes have died. Many of the villains have as well, but not Kraven The Hunter. Kraven is actually a major part of the effort to hunt down and kill the superheroes.

In this version of reality, Kraven kills the Punisher and ultimately goes up against an aged Logan. He also is the leader of the Killer Kravinoffs, a gang of hunters who model their bloody ways after the original Sergei Kravinoff.

9 Marvel Noir

Marvel Comics are full of alternate timelines. The Marvel Noir universe, or Earth-90214, is just one of them. In this reality, based heavily on the tropes and aesthetic of the best noir movies of all time, Kraven The Hunter is an animal trainer. He's also part of a criminal gang run by the Goblin, Norman Osborn.

This version isn't as successful as many of the others in the comics. He dies in this universe, eaten by flesh-eating spiders in a gruesome scene emblematic of the dark universe of Marvel Noir.

8 1602

The 1602 mini-series from acclaimed Sandman writer Neil Gaiman and artist Andy Kubert imagines the Marvel Universe beginning at the end of Queen Elizabeth I's reign. Kraven The Hunter is one of the many characters reinterpreted for this 2003 comic book.

In this alternate reality, Kraven is part of the Sinister Sextet, a version of the Sinister Six. Kraven is also known as Karnov in this reality, where his bloody sport is never questioned given the timeframe. Still, he is defeated by this era's version of Spider-Man.

7 Earth-803

Kraven The Hunter is one of the most powerful members of the Sinister Six in any reality. He's part of one of the most interesting in Earth-803, a steampunk universe that debuts during the original Spider-Verse storyline in Marvel Comics. This 2014 comic blew the doors off the multiverse concept for Spider-Man.

Kraven was a late 19th-century big game hunter and a member of the Six Men of Sinestry, which included a very steampunk version of Doctor Octopus. Together, they faced off against the Lady Spider.

6 Earth-001

Another alternate reality introduced during the Spider-Verse storyline from 2014 is that of Earth-001. This is a much darker Kraven, known only as Kravinoff. He's part of a gang called the Hounds who hunt down Miles Morales as he hops from one universe to another.

Kraven wears a spiked mask and is a much more terrifying version of himself than even the original. He is ultimately taken down by the Superior Spider-Man, who is Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man's body, in Earth-616.

5 Last Son Of Kraven

Not every version of Kraven The Hunter is from another reality. Some of the strangest alternate versions of him come from Earth-616. The Last Sons of Kraven were all clones of the original, after his death in Kraven's Last Hunt, one of the greatest Spider-Man comic book arcs ever.

The Sons of Kraven were products of the experimentation of the High Evolutionary, an evolved human who at present in the comics is also responsible for the genetic manipulation behind the superpowers of both Quicksilver and his sister The Scarlet Witch.

4 Alyosha Kraven

After Kraven's death, he was absent from the comics for three decades until his resurrection in 2009, in the storyline The Gauntlet and Grim Hunt. Other characters took up the mantle of Kraven The Hunter, including Alyosha Kravinoff, his son. He would become the second version of the character in regular Marvel continuity.

Unlike his father, Alyosha is a mutant. He has enhanced strength, stamina, and reflexes. He also has the ability to communicate with animals and even control them in some instances.

3 Ana Kraven

Ana Kraven is the daughter of Kraven, who became the third version of the character in the comics. She first appeared in 2008, in The Amazing Spider-Man #565. Though she is only twelve years old, she begins a campaign of revenge against Spider-Man for the death of her father. This leads directly to Kraven's resurrection.

Ana is a ruthless villain herself, even taking on Kaine, the evil clone of Spider-Man. She ultimately walks away from her father when she discovers the cloned Sons of Kraven, something she thinks diminishes the Kravinoff family legacy.

2 Renew Your Vows

Renew Your Vows is a 2015 storyline from the comics that takes place on Earth-18119. In this reality, Kraven is part of a more monstrous version of the Sinister Six who hunts down not only Peter Parker but his wife Mary Jane and their daughter, Annie.

This is a more brutal reality than comic book fans know from Earth-616. In this story, the Sinister Six are arrested, and then break out to fight again. Though Kraven survives, Spider-Man kills Doctor Octopus and severely injures the Vulture.

1 Ultimate Comics

The Ultimate Comics line updated Marvel's most popular heroes and stories for a modern audience in the 2000s, and Kraven The Hunter was refreshed along with the rest of Spider-Man's rogues' gallery.

In the reality of Earth-1610, Kraven is a reality TV star who hunts big game for this show. He sets his sights on Spider-Man to get big ratings, but it doesn't go well. Kraven is a bit of a fraud in this universe and Spider-Man knocks him out with a single punch. Kraven later seeks out superpowers to get revenge.
