The reality show The Real Housewives of New York City features cast members who have royal connections, and we're going to talk about how the cast members are linked with royalty today. Some are connected through marriage or friendship. The women of RHONY have rubbed elbows with royalty, and a couple of the women have had royal titles themselves.
Most Bravo viewers are aware that the women of the Big Apple know a lot of fascinating and famous people. However, they have not learned all of the details about how the cast has moved in royal circles. While the Real Housewives aren't having tea with the queen regularly, they do have friends in high places. Some of those elite friends have worn crowns.
As most fans know due to watching the early seasons, de Lesseps was married to a French businessman named Count Alexandre de Lesseps. The couple married in 2003 and she was given the title of Countess. Alex became a Count since that title is passed down from generation to generation through his family. The title dates back to the 1800s. LuAnn’s ex-husband is a descendant of a notable diplomat, Ferdinand de Lesseps, who built the Suez Canal.
The title can also be traced further back, to when Ferdinand’s father Mathieu was made a Count by Napoleon. A count is a noble title that, when translated, means "friend of the emperor." It is a mid-level title that is lower than Duke or Prince. LuAnn (who is currently dating an NFL hopeful) lost her title when she remarried. She wed Thomas D'Agostino, but they are now divorced.
Carole may be one of our favorite housewives of all time, thanks to her journalistic gumption and integrity. She was the opposite of LuAnn, as she hid the fact that she was indeed a princess by marriage. She also kept the fact that she was best buds with the late JFK Jr. quiet. He was considered American royalty. As fans were aware, Carole married Anthony Radziwill. He was the son of Jackie Kennedy’s sister, Caroline Lee Bouvier. His full title is Serene Highness, Prince Anthony Stanislaw Albert Radziwill. The Radziwill family has its own coat of arms and hails from Poland and Lithuania. Unfortunately, the family did end up losing a lot of its money during World War II.
It makes sense that Sonjarita has rubbed elbows with some royals in her time since she loved to vacation in Monaco. While she may not have married a royal, she is the former wife of John Adams Morgan, who is from a rich and famous banking family. She did claim that she once dated Prince Albert, who is the monarch of Monaco and the son of the late Hollywood actress, Grace Kelly.
After the socialite's marriage with Topper Mortimer failed, the blonde dated a German prince, Prince Casimir of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. They were married from 2009 to 2010. Casimir is a descendent of James II of England. Tinsley probably won't reunite with him since he married another woman in 2019.
Even though the “make it nice” queen is no longer a cast member, she was linked to The Princess of Wales. The mother of one revealed that she had worked out with the late Princess Diana at the Harvard Club in London. The princess also became a customer of hers when Dorinda owned DCL Cashmere. As well, Dorinda (who ditched her NYC apartment in 2020) was neighbors with Sophie, Countess of Wessex. One day, Sophie brought Diana by to check out DCL Cashmere. The Princess liked what she saw and became a regular client.
