Amazing Star Wars Cover Art Shows The How Empire Hunted Boba Fett

Star Wars has had Boba Fett at the forefront of War of the Bounty Hunters and now, the Empire has put up wanted posters for the notorious bounty hunter. The galaxy's most wanted — and most beloved — characters are the focus of new variant covers. These fugitives are finally seeing their names in lights — though not in the way they might want.

Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters is an ongoing comics crossover event that follows the hunt and capture of Han Solo's frozen carbonite body. This infamous bounty was completed by Boba Fett for Jabba the Hutt, but there is more to the story. Han's body has been stolen by the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn and put up for auction. It seems everyone in the galaxy is after the smuggler — for numerous reasons.

On Twitter, Marvel shared new covers for the ongoing Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters comic crossover event. This set of covers was created by David Nakayama, whose recent work includes variant covers for the Extreme Carnage event and the X-Men's Hellfire Gala. The exact issues paired to each variant have not yet been revealed, though some have likelier pairings than others (Doctor Aphra #13 will likely have the Doctor Aphra cover as a variant). Each variant takes a Star Wars character who is active in this event and places them as the focus of a wanted poster put up by the Empire — though only Jango Fett's is detailed with a full reason for being wanted.

Han Solo, Boba Fett, Jango, Qi'ra, Doctor Aphra, and Beilert Valance are wanted "for crimes against the Empire." The major outlier in these covers is Jango, who is wanted after events occurring in War of the Bounty Hunters: Alpha #1. Nakayama's work on these covers is stunning and it really highlights the severity of these characters' offenses. In addition to the main characters on each poster, these covers include passersby like Leia, IG-88, Doctor Aphra, stormtroopers, Zuckuss and 4-LOM.

These covers will go along with Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #3, Star Wars #16War of the Bounty Hunters: 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #13, Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #15, and Star Wars: Darth Vader #15. The layering on these covers is highly impressive, with the posters sandwiched between background and foreground details. These posters are giant and if this is truly how the Empire advertises its most wanted fugitives, it isn't surprising that there are so many people looking for Han Solo. These covers make it easy to understand how knowledge of him — and others — could spread very quickly and effectively. A close look isn't even needed to have the necessary information to identify a target. Fans can read about the hunts for these fugitives — which include bounty hunters like Beilert Valance and Boba Fett — and pick up these Star Wars variant covers when they release along with War of the Bounty Hunters tie-in comics throughout August 2021.
