During WitcherCon, The Witcher season 2 poster, release date, episode titles as well as new images of Ciri (Freya Allen), Lambert (Paul Bullion) and Jaskier (Joey Batey) are revealed. The Witcher season 1 released on Netflix in December 2019 and quickly became one of the streaming service's most popular original series. It was a good thing, then, that Netflix had already renewed The Witcher for season 2 prior to its premiere, with showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich able to get to work on the high fantasy drama's sophomore outing. Of course, production on The Witcher season 2 was halted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but filming was able to wrap in April with an expectation it would premiere in late 2021.
In terms of the story, The Witcher season 2 will pick up with its three main characters: Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Princess Ciri of Cintra and the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra). At the end of The Witcher season 1, Geralt finally meets up with his Child of Surprise Ciri, finding the girl in the woods as was teased in the very first episode. However, Yennefer's fate was unknown after she disappeared during a battle with the Nilfgaardian Empire, and her whereabouts going into season 2 are unknown. Now, during the first ever WitcherCon virtual event, plenty of information about The Witcher season 2 was revealed.
As part of The Witcher Season 2: Deck of Destiny panel, it was confirmed the show will return later this year with The Witcher season 2 release date set for December 17. This was announced in the reveal of The Witcher season 2 poster, which features Geralt, Ciri and the witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. Additionally, new images from The Witcher season 2 feature a first look at Jaskier's return - as well has his new costume and hair - and show Ciri training with Lambert, a new witcher to be introduced. Lastly, a teaser video reveals seven of eight of The Witcher season 2's episode titles: A Grain of Truth, Kaer Morhen, What Is Lost, Redanian Intelligence, Turn Your Back, Dear Friend, Voleth Meir and Episode 8 is blocked out with the phrase "[Top Secret]." Check out The Witcher season 2 poster, images and episode titles below.
