Big Brother: Christie May Have Falsely Tested Positive for COVID-19

After being removed from the Big Brother season 23 cast due to testing positive for COVID-19, Christie Valdiserri may have actually received false negative results. She was initially shocked by the news as she did not have any symptoms of the virus and is in fact vaccinated. Upon returning home, Christie took it upon herself to take another COVID-19 test. To her surprise, the test came back negative, leaving her even more confused.

When CBS announced the cast of brand new houseguests, the Philadelphia native was listed as one of the 16 new contestants on the competition series. Many fans were excited to watch Christie take on the game while also educating viewers on her hair loss condition, alopecia. Just a few short days after the cast reveal, CBS released a video of Christie announcing she would no longer be a part of the show due to testing positive for COVID-19.

While Christie's loss was ultimately a plus for Claire Rehfuss, who was added to the cast in her place, Christie is now questioning her premature and unfortunate departure from the show. After the shocking announcement was made earlier this week, Christie began to share her thoughts on the situation on Instagram. Initially, she released an IGTV video in which she was notably upset about no longer being on the show. Then, on Thursday, Christie took to her Instagram story to give even more details on the confusing situation. Christie explained that upon returning home she took another COVID-19 test herself. She took the test on Tuesday, two days after she allegedly received the positive test results.

When Christie got the results for her second COVID-19 test, she was shocked to learn that it came back negative. While this made sense as to why Christie did not have any symptoms of the virus, it ultimately left her even more confused as to why she initially tested positive. This essentially means there is a possibility that Christie's original test results were actually wrong. In the post, Christie said, "I have zero clue how this all makes sense but it’s all said and done at this point." She continued on to explain that rather than being angry about the entire situation, she plans to move forward and accept that being on Big Brother this summer was just not meant to be for her.

Prior to Christie's premature departure from the show, it had been rumored amongst Big Brother fans that she was actually a recruit. For those not aware, the casts for the show are typically made up of some applicants as well as some individuals who were approached by the casting team. While it is unclear both why and how Christie tested positive for COVID-19, it is quite ironic that a recruit was suddenly removed from the show and was replaced by a super-fan. On a positive note, many viewers as well as former players would like to see Christie compete on the show next summer.
