Marvel Unveils Spider-Man's New 'Dark Ages' Suit | Screen Rant

Spider-Man has had many different suits over the years, and a new one has just been revealed for Marvel's upcoming Dark Ages event. The lights are going out in the world and heroes are emerging changed, however, interestingly enough, not too much about the web-slinger's outfit has been modified.

Marvel has been rolling out peeks at Dark Ages, an upcoming series that will bring loss and darkness to the world and its heroes. Characters like Iron Man and Vision have received some radically different looks and a new villain has been revealed in Unmaker. However, not much else is known yet. There is a lot of mystery surrounding this limited series from Marvel and only a few hints and glances as to what to expect thus far.

The creative team attached to Dark Ages includes Tom Taylor and Iban Coello. Taylor has written All-New Wolverine, X-Men RedSuperior Spider-Man, and many other series for Marvel. Iban Coello has done work on VenomThe Amazing Spider-ManVenomized, and Venomverse - among many other titles. Promotional art has been created by Ryan Stegman. This series will have a total of six issues that will begin releasing in September. Of the new character art provided, Spider-Man is one of the most familiar, with a look that is fairly consistent with his standard one.

For this series, Spider-Man is sticking with his traditional red and blue color scheme, though he has added a layer of armor coating. Like Iron Man, Spider-Man's armor is held in place with leather straps wrapped around his legs and arms. So far it looks as though there are two major parts to this suit. There is a blue fabric underlayer which the red armored pieces are then placed over. This is very different from the fabric bodysuit that the web-slinger usually wears, though with just the briefest glance it looks mostly the same. The biggest difference in Spider-Man’s new look is the armor plating and presence of grommets on it. The plate thickness also adds a visual weight to the suit that Spider-Man normally doesn't have.

One of the most interesting things about this suit is the way that it has plate armor but still conforms to Spidey's body like his standard suit does. Initially, this seems rather strange, since Iron Man's new armor is rather clunky and bulky compared to Stark's usual armor. Yet Spider-Man has found a material pliable enough to snugly fit him while still serving as armor plating. This is particularly visible around his neck, arms, and chest, where the plates still show his musculature underneath. Depending on the materials available and the status of the world when Spider-Man gets this suit, it could be something like leather - as was used in some medieval armor - or it could be a fabric similar to the one seen in the MCU with the Iron Spider Suit.

Spider-Man has been known to wear armored suits before, though there aren't any quite like this. Armored suits have included the Spider-Armor MK III and the suit Peter Parker wore under the mantle of Prodigy. However, both of those suits were much bulkier than this newest version. Another interesting aspect of this look is the exterior web-shooter seen on his right wrist. This is a much bigger shooter than Spider-Man has been seen wearing as of late and is reminiscent of Ben Reilly's web-shooters. Spider-Man is definitely suited up and ready for Marvel's Dark Ages
