Monsters At Work Cast & Character Guide | Screen Rant

Monsters At Work continues the story of Monsters Inc. with not only a new roster of lovable monster characters, but also an impressive voice cast of new and familiar actors. The series is the first long-form CGI television show based on a Pixar property. The events of the show are set six months after the emotional ending of Pixar's Monsters Inc. (2001), and several years after the events of 2013's Monsters University. The series began airing on Disney+ on July 7, 2021.

Monsters At Work tells the story of the immediate aftermath of Monster's Inc., in which the monster world discovered the energy-harvesting potential of children's laughter. Leaving the old ways of scaring children for energy behind, old pals Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman) assume leadership positions at the Monsters Inc. company and begin the process of switching their business model from scaring to laughing. In the midst of this shake-up, a recent graduate of Monsters University named Tylor Tuskmon arrives at Monsters Inc. for his first day on the job as a scarer, only to find that his services are no longer required by the company. Relegated to working as a mechanic with a cast of colorful monster characters, he dreams of one day being promoted to the Laugh Floor and working alongside his idols.

Monsters At Work introduces audiences to a slew of new monsters while also bringing back beloved favorites like Mike, Sulley, and Roz. These characters are backed up by an impressive voice cast, including franchise mainstays like Crystal and Goodman and newcomers Ben Feldman, Mindy Kaling, and Henry Winkler. Here's a guide to the cast and characters of the series.

The beloved hero of the first film and the company's number-one scarer, Sulley, is back in a supporting role in the Monsters Inc. sequel. When we last saw Sulley, he had taken on the role of Monsters Inc. CEO following the detainment of Mr. Waternoose. He now leads the company into a brave new, laugh-based future alongside his best friend and business partner, Mike Wazowski.

Sulley is once again played by John Goodman, who portrayed the character in both the original film and its prequel, Monsters University. Goodman's extensive acting career includes several other memorable voice roles for Disney, including Pacha in The Emperor's New Groove (2000) and Eli "Big Daddy" LaBouff in The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Wherever Sulley is, his best bud Mike Wazowski is never too far away. In Monsters Inc., Mike was the sarcastic and lovable Scare Floor assistant to Sulley and helped his friend rescue the human child Boo from a scream-extracting plot. In the wake of the company's shift to laugh-based energy harvesting, Mike's comedic talents placed him at the forefront of the new venture. In Monsters At Work, he now helps Sulley run the company in addition to training new employees.

Once again, comedian Billy Crystal lends his vocal talents to the role of Mike, marking his third time playing the character over a 20-year span. Crystal's long list of beloved films includes acting in classics like The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), and City Slickers (1991), and directing films like the baseball biopic 61* in 2001.

While Mike and Sulley appear in Monsters At Work, they are not the main characters of the series. That distinction falls to Monsters At Work's brand-new character: Tylor Tuskmon. The hardworking graduate of Monsters University dreams of applying his scaring talents at Monsters Inc. and working alongside the greatest scarers of all time. Unfortunately, things don't go according to plan for Tylor, and he finds himself relegated to mechanic duties at the company. However, with the help of his new friends, Tylor hopes to find a purpose and fulfill his dreams.

Actor and producer Ben Feldman plays Tylor in the new series. Feldman's career includes stints on Broadway and behind-the-scenes work, but audiences will likely recognize him best for his role as Jonah Simms in the sitcom Superstore. He has also played lead characters in films including The Perfect Man (2005), Cloverfield (2008), and the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th.

One of the new monster characters supporting Tylor in the Pixar Monsters series is Val Little. Val is Tylor's best friend, and also works as a mechanic at Monsters Inc. Val is played by actress Mindy Kaling, whose charismatic personality has made her a beloved actress, performer, and comedian. She remains best known for her role as Kelly Kapoor in The Office, a show she also wrote and directed for. Her work can also be seen in The Mindy Project (2012–2017) and Disney's adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time (2018).

Another new monster character series is Fritz, Tylor's boss in the Monsters Inc. M.I.F.T. maintenance department. Fritz is played by one of the most beloved actors in the history of television: Henry Winkler. Although better known to younger audiences for his roles in Arrested Development and Parks and Recreation, Winkler's biggest claim to fame will always be the legendary role of Fonzie on the mega-popular 1974-1984 sitcom Happy Days.

Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae: Mike's girlfriend from the original film returns, albeit with a promotion from the receptionist to Laugh Floor Supervisor. Jennifer Tilly reprises her role from the original Monsters Inc., and the Academy Award-nominated actress can also be seen in everything from Bullets Over Broadway (1994) to the Child's Play franchise as the voice of the murderous doll Tiffany.

John Ratzenberger as Yeti: The once-banished Yeti makes his triumphant return from the human world in Monsters At Work. Pixar's mainstay and so-called "good luck charm" John Ratzenberger appears in almost every Pixar movie.

Bob Peterson as Roz: Head of the CDA and perpetual observer of Mike Wazowski, Roz returns to the franchise once again voiced by Pixar animator/writer/director Bob Peterson.

Bonnie Hunt as Mrs. Flint: The scare instructor from the first Monsters Inc., Mrs. Flint is once again voiced by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, who is fondly remembered for her roles in films like Beethoven (1992) and A Bug's Life (1998).

Lucas Neff as Duncan: A cunning and opportunistic plumber in the M.I.F.T. department. Neff is best known for his starring role in the Fox sitcom Raising Hope.

Alanna Ubach as Cutter: a crab-like member of M.I.F.T. in the new Disney+ series. Ubach is best known for her roles in Legally Blond (2001) and Pixar's Coco (2017).

Aisha Tyler as Millie Tuskmon: Tylor's mother and one of his biggest supporters. Tyler has had a long career acting on sitcoms, and currently hosts Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Gabriel Iglesias as Gary Gibbs: A purple version of Mike, as well as his "arch-enemy." Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is a popular stand-up comedian and actor whose most recent big role was voicing Speedy Gonzales in Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021).
