Star Wars: The 10 Best Duos From Rebels | ScreenRant

Some of the very best characters of the Disney-era of Star Wars canon have come from Star Wars: Rebels, with the show producing some of the best and most relatable character arcs in the entire franchise. On top of that, the show gives audiences so many brilliant friendships and character dynamics to enjoy.

Of course, the core group of six specters itself is a brilliant family, but there are so many standout duos within the show; pairs of characters who either have such a good relationship, a fascinating one, a hilarious one even, and who are always a joy to watch together.

10 Ezra Bridger & Hondo Ohnaka

Hondo Ohnaka is everyone's favorite Star Wars pirate who proved himself a great recurring Clone Wars character, one of the many connections to the show, before popping up in Rebels as an arguably less edgy but still as criminal character.

He forms a relatively close friendship with Ezra in the show, with the two having a lot of banter and Ezra learning a lot from Hondo - not always good, though. They were a light-hearted duo, but their friendship led to Hondo being involved in some crucial Rebels moments and was often hilarious to watch.

9 Chopper & Ap-5

Usually, in Star Wars, droids are cute, sassy, resourceful, and pet-like. Chopper was definitely smart and resourceful, but he was also a bit murderous, irate, and massively entertaining at times, all making his relationship with AP-5 more fun to watch.

The two are right up there in terms of droids, with a definite Artoo/Threepio vibe to their relationship. Their bromance is charming and entertaining, and the pair are certainly beloved by Rebels fans; with AP-5's dry wit and sarcasm and Chopper's overall attitude, the two are a joy.

8 Ezra Bridger & Maul

Maul and Ezra Bridger were not friends. In fact, they were enemies pretty much using each other for their own personal version of a greater good. Nevertheless, they were a key dynamic in the show and were great together.

Their relationship is complex; Maul saw Ezra as a potential apprentice, while Ezra eventually just saw Maul as someone who caused pain to those he cared about. Maul affected Ezra to the point Ezra was able to open a Sith Holocron. Eventually, though, the two were simply enemies, with Maul tormenting Ezra before using him to get to Obi-Wan. Their history is one of the most complicated in Rebels, and the two always helped create some fantastic episodes.

7 Alexsandr Kallus & Garazeb Orrelios

Sometimes in Star Wars, great duos start off not necessarily loving one another. Just look at Han and Lando, Han and Leia, or Han and Luke. ISB Agent turned rebel Alexsandr Kallus, and beloved member of the Ghost crew Zeb fit into that category.

Their rivalry was always a bit personal due to Kallus' role in the apparent near-extinction of the Lasat people. After they are stranded on the ice moon of Geonosis, the two formed a necessary trust, born out of survival. That whole episode is great, and arguably Zeb's most iconic in Rebels. This half-friendship was the catalyst for Kallus' defection. Eventually, the two are actually friends, with Zeb taking Kallus to Lira San to show him the survival of the Lasat people.

6 Hera Syndulla & Chopper

The longest-lasting relationship in Rebels, by a good way, is that between Hera and Chopper, one that was there during The Clone Wars and lived after the Galactic Civil War.

People typically associate droid/human duos with the likes of Luke and Artoo or Poe and BB-8, but this friendship gives both a run for their money. They are both very protective of one another, and while he does still give his typical attitude and sass, Hera is the only person Chopper makes clear that he actually likes. They have a fun dynamic that, when touched on, is a joy to watch.

5 Kanan Jarrus & Captain Rex

One of the best characters of Rebels to come through from The Clone Wars was Rex, and his relationship with Kanan Jarrus is so interesting and touching to watch, one of the most underrated in the series.

Their friendship kicks off with a serious chip on Kanan's shoulders given Order 66 and sees the two always at odds with one another over the way to train Ezra or prioritize missions. Eventually, mutual respect is formed, with the two sharing a heartwarming salute. Not only is it crucial for Kanan's character, but it helps alleviate a lot of the tension that remained from the Clone Wars. It is a lovely friendship between two veterans and leaders.

4 Ezra Bridger & Sabine Wren

Many Rebels fans expected Ezra and Sabine to spark up a romance during the show, and while that is still on the cards for the future, they were a joy to watch as friends, becoming a great duo in the show.

There is a personal aspect to their relationship throughout Rebels, an intimacy and trust that is missing from some other duos. The two's dynamic for a long time is brother/sister-esque, despite Ezra's initial big crush on the Mandalorian. There are up and downs for them; they are young, immature, and stubborn, after all. However, that just makes their friendship all the better.

3 Ezra Bridger & Garazeb Orrelios

Undoubtedly the best bromance in Rebels and one of the most underrated friendships in Star Wars. It started off as one of resentment and grew into such a loving, banter-filled, brotherly bond.

The two are so fun to watch with one another. While they may not often want to admit how much they do love each other and get on, far removed from their initial rivalry, it is clear they do. Ezra trusts Zeb absolutely and vice versa, and it is a joy to watch how that trust builds from nothing to that of a family.

2 Hera Syndulla & Kanan Jarrus

The romance between Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndull is one of the best in Star Wars, hands down. It is right up there with the more mainstream relationships in terms of emotional impact and quality.

They bounce off each other so well, knowing each other inside out, and can always help one another when they need it, even if the other does not know they need it. It takes a long time for them to profess their love for one another properly, and that slow-build pays off beautifully. They are an unstoppable team for four seasons. Kanan's sacrifice while saving her life is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the show and in the canon as a whole.

1 Kanan Jarrus & Ezra Bridger

The main duo that Rebels focuses on is the Jedi Master/Apprentice duo of Kanan and Ezra, a relationship with ups and downs and with so many incredible moments.

It is another phenomenal father/son-esque dynamic in Star Wars, with the two having a closer, more personal bond than a typical pair of Jedi. They argue, get on each other's nerves, teach each other about life and the Force, and all-in-all, they kick ass together. Kanan is the most significant reason for Ezra's growth throughout the show, and Ezra is one of the biggest helps Kanan got in his journey in the Force. Watching them for four seasons was amazing.
