Amy grew up in Dixon, Kentucky, where she went to Union High School. While at high school, Amy met her long-term boyfriend and eventual husband, Michael Halterman. Amy got married to Michael on March 15, 2019, during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. Although Amy is married, her sister Tammy remains a major part of the television personality's life. Amy and Michael take care of Tammy, who requires assistance to complete most of her day-to-day tasks. Eventually, Amy lost enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery, an operation that adjusts digestive systems to increase weight loss. Amy's doctor recommended she put her parenthood plans on hold for two years so her body can adjust following the surgery. Amy and Michael couldn't wait to start their family, however, and the star was pregnant soon after completing her procedure. In November 2020, Amy gave birth to her son Gage without any major complications. Amy has dedicated her social media to her growing family.   1. Amu and Tammy Slaton have a complex relationship in the 1000-Lb Sisters. One problem between the sisters that comes up often in the show is that Tammy blames Amy for her weight gain.
